An organisation run by gay people for gay people who want housing advice, sponsored by London Council's who actively promote employment and housing provision to minority groups and if you happen to declare that you are gay you stand more chance of getting the keys to the flat than if you are straight. It might not bother you and that is absolutely fine, I'm in touch with my feminine side too, but if you get something because you are gay over someone who is not I don't find it fair.

I'm glad that there is a lot of equality around, I've got kids and if they grow up to be gay I'd rather it was in this day and age than say 50 years ago. It doesn't mean I have to like it though, I've not met anyone who actually want their kids to be homos.

Again, you haven't provided any evidence of gay people getting priority over straight people. All you've done is posted a link to a website which gives advice to gay people. The fact that there needs to be such a website is evidence in itself that people in so-called minority groups are often victims of discrimination.

If it makes no difference whether you're gay or not when applying for social housing, all that gay website needs to say is: "Join the queue along with everyone else".

Does it ever occur to you that people want to seek advice from people who they feel a connection to?

What has being gay got to do with visiting a housing office or citizens advice bureau?

If you were racist would you visit a BNP office for a house?

Nothing, but I was referring to a website that Grove cited.

I know this is difficult for you but do try and keep up.

i think what ST is saying that if you are gay, you may well find it easier to access some advice on services (housing etc) in a more comfortable (for you) environment - legislation would absolutely prohibit any allocations policy based on sexuality however.

so, for example, if i was gay i might want to go to my local gay rights campaigner. Lets (and this is purely to put some flesh on the bones of the argument) call this guy ER. ER might advise me on my housing options in a manner that i can be sure is not discriminatory. Er would and could not advise me of a local authority or housing assoc that has a "gays 1st" allocations policy.

Aye but housing offices and the citizen advice bureau don't discriminate though.

Thats the whole point of them.

Have to laugh at ST. Sticking up for the gays on one thread and then calling people gay on another thread as an insult as if it's shameful to be gay.

    Idiot.

Regardless of my views on homosexuality, how am I sticking up for gays? Are you capable of reading and understanding things properly?

You really are a poorly educated fool Nev.
