Laughable. Predictable but still laughable.

Either the BBC are overly concerned with exchanging funny handshakes with film makers or they are just plain gullible.

Reading about Juan Manuel Fangio was great, I knew quite a few stories from his past but it's still good to hear about a great driver. My only doubt about Fangio was noted in the write up, he always had the best car, and he was always the teams number 1 driver (yes that's not a new thing). He was still a class act.

Still can't believe that Senna will be Number 1, it's a joke.

it was always going to be one of these 2 at the top, I think they got the top 3 right (although not necessarily in the right order), I never saw Fangio or Clark drive, but the accolades from other drivers and team-mates tell the story, but of the drivers I've seen race, Senna was clearly the best.

It is a weird romance between BBC and Senna. His death playing a huge part in the attraction towards him.

"You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

The former applies very strongly to Senna, not to disparage his obvious talent. You can, of course, decide for yourself who the latter part applies to.

Senna didn't want to die, but the way he is portrayed is ridiculous.
Not taking anything away from him though.
You cannot help whether you live long or not, but the outcomes/rankings/respect should not be judged on this either, it is an uncontrollable variable. And that is something people tend to forget.

Schumacher should be number 1 easily the best driver i have ever seen.
Surely Rosberg should then be number 1?
Then Webber as he beat him.
Or even Vettel
Liuzzi?
Coulthard?
Raikkonen?
Massa?
Alonso.

So 4th best is generous when i get him 9th.

Funny enough I heard that phrase and Senna was the first person I thought of. True story!

Prost=Villain
Schumacher=Villain
Piquet=Villain

Senna=Hero
Clark=Hero
Villeneuve=Hero

Fangio I believed was the only driver that would give a win to another driver and never admit it. Take Moss winning the British GP for the first time, even Moss isn't sure he really won or that Fangio did allow him to win it.

Fangio is number 1, he had the skill, the unmatched kindness and honesty when he was bettered and respect for his fellow racers on track. My only regret is that I never had the chance to meet him in person. Go get a book about Fangio and read it, you will see what I mean why he was utterly respected by everybody. They say Senna was the messiah for F1, for me personally he already did his time and left the sport with his reputation and respect intact far before Senna was even born!

The longer your career is, the longer people have to build hatred. And the more reasons they have to do so, as more mistakes are made.

Amazing logic there. on a similar note.

Button beat Trulli who beat Frentzen who beat Damon Hill who beat Ralf Schumacher who beat Button. So Button>Button.

On the main topic i am a little dissapointed to see JMF come second, if anything because Senna is a bit boring and predictable of a choice. No doubt he was an amazing driver, by why he seems to have this difinitive hold of no1 in every list over the likes of of Clark, Schumacher, Fangio and Prost is beyond me.
