Massimo Luongo's been recalled from his loan at Ipswich Town.
He hasn't been playing for them recently, as they've been pasted from pillar to post by all and sundry, so the club's pulled him back.

He played for the U21s recently in their 6-0 win over Newcastle and their 4-2 win against Man Utd, so he'll probably feature again on Monday against Southampton.
It'll be interesting to see whether he's allowed to stay and fight for a place in the first team or loaned back out again to a side where he'll be more likely to get games.

I went on the Ipswich board earlier in the season and they seemed to think he was one of the few positives at the club at the time when they were still waiting to get rid of Jewell. Haven't checked but I can't imagine hiring McCarthy cheered them up much either.

I'm not sure there will be any benefit in Luongo learning how to play the "McCarthy Way" so I'm glad he's back and I hope he gets a chance to go out on loan to another Championship club later in the season.
 
McCarthy has said "He's a good footballer, but I am looking for something different".

In that case he's better off back with us.
 
What sort of manager says something like that?
"Don't like good footballers, me. I'm after some rugby players and anyone that can play lacrosse." <doh>
 
He'd rather have 11 Karl Henry's kicking players around the pitch than 11 football players playing football.

I remember McCarthy complaining when Ronaldo and co were doing a few kickups when he was commenting on their game against North Korea. It was 7-0 and the Koreans had given up and he thought it was better that they tried and scored more apparently.

What a crazy comment.

"He's a good footballer, but I'm only looking for netball players at the moment I'm afraid."
 
John Bostock is also back at the club, but that's because he is going to be out for a while with injury.
