OT: British Sitcoms

and if it counts ...Hancock's Half Hour.

Although I did watch Sykes, it would not make my top list, but 'The Plank', (I know it's a short film and not a sitcom). One of the cleverest and funniest things I have ever seen <ok>
 
in-betweeners is good
anybody watching Fresh Meat? Very funny portrail of student life. joe thomas from in-betweeners is in it plus jake whitehall. quality

You can also watch all Inbetweeners episodes on 4od as well. Having been at pretty much the perfect age when it was aired, I have to say that I did love it. It related so much.

Also, while on the subject of present comedies, Not Going Out has it's moments, although it is very hit and miss. I also don't believe anyone's mentioned Red Dwarf, although I haven't seen any of the most recent series on Dave - apparently it hasn't been great.
 
Anyone remember the programme with Rory McGrath as an ancient brit pitting his wits against the Romans?. Classic episode was the Roman given the task of planning a road from Colchester to London, after months of planning he came back with a map showing a straight line with a kink halfway along, when asked what it was he said an old boy would'nt move so he planned the road round him, "Take him out and hang him and we'll call it gallows corner" he was told.

Good shout whoever mentioned Fresh Meat of the current crop, its absolutely brilliantly written and acted and hilarious!!
 
Can we count the very first series of Auf Wiedersehn Pet? Maybe not a true sit com but funny because the events in the series really could happen unlike most of the others which were pure fantasy.
And how about Sykes? Til death do us part? One foot in the grave?
 
Other than the Inbetweeners, Peep Show and the Office I have never seen any of these mentioned Sitcoms, guess that shows my age or lack thereof!
