The way we are, we are likely to go down whoever is in charge. In those circumstances I struggle to think of a better manager to lead us out of the Championship than Adkins. It will sound very defeatist to a lot but if we go down we should go down with our man still at the helm.
And Adkins won't abandon us if we go down. If we get a new manager in and we still get relegated, they could easily resign and leave us in the ****.
This. At least he won't lose interest if we go down, he'll want to get us straight back up again. Can't imagine old saggy chops would want to be a Championship manager, way below his station ;-)
Like most Saints fans I definitely don't want Adkins to leave but I wonder if Cortese may feel that a bigger 'name' would maybe make it easier to bring in players? Especially if we are still in the bottom 3 in January. Not sure who that might me right now but just a thought... If he were to go and if I were Cortese I would move the earth to try and get Martinez.
Same, but got a nasty feeling it could be true. When we lost to Leeds last week I said that we had to get something out of the West Brom game to justify his decision to rest our key players. I still stand by this but I no longer want him to leave Saints. I have been angry with him at some moments in the season but he is definitely the man for the job.
According to nixon on the tweeter adkins is gone he was right about everything about us in the summer so i fully expect him to be gone today.
Simon Peach: 'Adkins still at the #SaintsFC helm despite mounting speculation over his future. Expecting to see him at Thursday's pre-match press conf.'
Crap...if Nixon has said it, then I do actually fear it is true, he wouldn't have anything to gain by making it up and he isn't a WUM.
I think this could be key (the attracting players bit). I don't want Adkins to leave, and if we go down I wouldn't be unhappy if Adkins stays. He is a top man. However, if he goes, I agree with you, Martinez would be a good appointment, and very much seems to be the type of man that Cortese likes.
Until its official I will say it is 100% crap. If he goes I will be bitterly disappointed in this decision and I expect quite a few fans will hit back at this.
Portsmouth boss Michael Appleton is on a two-man shortlist for the Blackpool job, BBC Radio Lancashire reports. LOL So it's going to be either the Pompey manager or the Saints manager it seems.
Oh hang on : It is thought that Appleton's move now hinges on the two clubs agreeing compensation, with the other candidate not currently in work....
No he said Moyes wanted him but couldn't get the money together in time. He also called it right on: Fox, Sharp, Clyne, Rodriguez, Cork, Ramirez and Mayuka.
