thank you very much for that video oddy. i could only watch the vid on racinguk with different commentary, but it won't be available on RUK after a year or so ticks by.

i confess i downloaded the video, and now i have an MP4 to treasure :biggrin: thank you very much. (except winamp won't play the MP4 visual and neither will media player. but i'll sort that some other time)

it still does bring a tear to the eye. to come back like that at nearly twelve is some massive feat. but then we could see and hope that he might as the race went on. the RUK video also has the paddock crowd afterwards hip hip hooraying and commentary. usually their vids don't include that but it should still all be viewable on replay.

One hopes his legacy lives on and inspires a new generation of followers...Frankel has put flat racing on the front pages recently in no uncertain terms.

Tbh..these are great times to be involved in Racing For Change.

I just hope those currently in custody of our sport don't f*** it up.

What an opportunity we have to promote our sport with these two legends.

Great to see that footage again - many thanks for posting it. I can remember watching it at the time and the amazing scenes afterwards and really regretted not getting off my lazy arse and going up to Haydock. Was hoping for a chance to put that right this year but not to be. A brilliant horse, amazing jumper 99% of the time. His capacity to throw in the odd dodgy one just added to the excitement. I saw Kauto run 3 times and to be fair I must have been a bit of a jinx. Fell in the Champion Chase, 2nd in Denman's gold cup, fell in IC's gold cup. I was always in the Denman camp in terms of support but I could never deny Kauto's greatness. Legend of the game.
 
Saw Kauto in the flesh at Sandown for the 2006 Tingle creek and it still makes me tingle a bit. People talk about the rar when Frankel tok off and yes that was special but it was every bit as amazing for Kauto. As Dexter said, we'e lucky to have had 2 such wonderful horses. It's his longevity that it so incredible - 7 successive Grade 1 winning seasons is quite an acheivement but it was his personality as well which will live long in the memory.

I love the fact that Denman's now hunting - you can just imagine the resident braggat in a local pub in the area telling everyone that he was out hunting as well and his horse was quicker and more fluent over the fence and ditches!

thank you! i've boookmarked that to sort it out. in anticipation i got an MP4 of the king george as well. that is the same vid as the racing post replay 'and he's going better than anything in the race..' brilliant stuff.

where will kauto be staying now he's retired? i'm not sure what happens afterwards whether they go back to the owners or to a new stable? paul nicholls presumably only has horses still being trained by him for racing.
 
We say good bye to the greatest chaser of all time in my eyes only he and golden miller winning the same race 5 times big bucks on 4 then arkle and best mate on 3 ,to smash the track record by 10 seconds whilst beating the youngest gold cup winner since mill house was astonishing, no wonder Ruby's grin was so big he knew he was sitting on the greatest of them all , I look forward to his statue at haydock,kempton ,and maybe Cheltenham what other horse will have three statues other than the king !,boxing day will never be the same when you see a horse this special you just want to see him time and time again and let's not forget he broke arkles 44 yr old record distance in the king George,happy retirement kauto there will never be another !!!
