Strong rumours on the news this morning that Palace are after the hollow one. Will the £ signs in his eyes be too much to resist? Hmmm
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20176036 Yes I still look to the beeb for all things sport but miss the old 606, it was a bit more lively lol
It's not a shock this though is it. He is a very good manager despite my loathing for the manner in which he left here. I think he's impressed with money because in his youth his family never had any. I did read his book even though I did it with a scowl on my face trying to look displeased. I think it will be a bigger shock now if he isn't at Palace by the weekend kick off. Are Blackpool looking for an up and coming young manager? (grasps at straws)
That almost sounded a tad grudging Mrs lalala. I'm not sure he has a lot of other atributes as a person even now so could understand it if it was. However I was reading a thread on another website a while back and there was a telling post from an Argyle insider on there and a quoted comment that Holloway made elsewhere regarding his departure from here. The bottom line was he was begging for certain players not to be sold and lo and behold the greedy or short sighted last board sold them and more leaving Holloway high and dry with quality lacking. I think one day the story will out and perhaps we will not be so hard on him.
It wasn't his going that made me detest the man it was the manner in which he went, and I for one will never forgive the lying, cheating bastard !
There does seem to be a theme running through Ian Holloway's career Reasonable success in building a team.......asks for more money to push on........result is savings must be made,so star players end up being sold.....Holloway then sods off and starts all over again. Holloway is fuming over lack of investment at Bloomfield Road and is involved in talks with his Chairman Karl Oyston. Oyston wants to trim the wage bill incase they do not achieve promotion this season.....already midfielder Barry Ferguson has become an early victim of the squeeze.....being sent on loan to Fleetwood. It can be understood why Ollie is upset.....he has achieved promotion to the Premiership....followed by relegation down again to the Championship.......and last year they were beaten play-off finalists.......now that doesn't sound to bad for Blackpool...who's glory days were back in the 50's.....when they had some great players who were household names. Maybe moving on is inevitable for Holloway who has always found it easy to seek out trouble.
Absolutely sensible, I understand completely why he left now that I'm able to look back at what has followed. Didn't he say at the time "one day the fans will understand?" That's not the whole story though is it? The way he bigged-up Plymouth in general and told us all he wasn't leaving just days before his exit. To make matters much worse during his introduction speech at Leicester he spoke of leaving "Eastenders and becoming King Lear". This was the final insult having already left the fans reeling from his departure. Good manager - definately! Trustworthy - definately not!
I remember watching the away game with Leicester on the telly after he had left......and losing to Argyle....plus the stick he got from the fans......at the time that victory was very sweet........and the end result was Leicester being relegated....not a good time for Holloway. Have Palace and Blackpool played yet this season........I shall be watching the outcome.
Hollowords got goosebumps when watching his new team this afternoon ..... awwww how sweet not, it should be the CP fans feeling a cold shiver down their spines they don't know their new manager has a parcel tongue !
Trouble is Gat they have gotten a very good manager for the football. They may not have gotten a very loyal one but if he gets them up to the top again then I don't think they will care a damn. He isn't that different from a lot in football where the pound rules and loyalty is twenty fifth fiddle to anything else. The same applies to players in most cases. The only loyalty shown in football is by...........yep you've got it, US.
Ummmmmm excuse me, don't I also remember "insiders" saying that Holloway advised the board NOT to offer contract extensions to certain players when it's probable the would have accepted them? Was it not Holloway who signed Ebanks-Blake on a contract containing a buy-out clause? In fact, I believe in typical tantrum style, Holloway talked about libel action. This didn't come to anything, which is about as close as you'll get to a confirmation that what was being said was true. Blackpool appear to a sensibly well run club. They didn't do a Portsmouth and let the PL cripple them. Holloway has known the score since he started there after his failure at Leicester, when no doubt he was glad of the job.
Depends which players he did or didn't want notdistant doesn't it. I don't actually blame him for leaving but I do blame him for the manner of the exit. He was doing a book signing to the loyal and faithful just prior to jumping ship when he already knew he was going. That just smacks of kerching kerching to me and no loyalty to the supporters whatsoever as an example of the man. He went to Blackpool because he was unemployed and was offered a job. Nothing wrong in that and it would not have mattered if they hadn't been a successful union. Once up I'm sure Holloway knew he would not get the keys to the safe to keep them there.
