Just seen this on the BBC 'Sportsday breaking news' - Reading v Arsenal, best game I've ever seen! Best value as well. £12, a pound a goal!!

Mr McNally - take note , we are being asked to pay 2.5 times as much!!!!

Yeah, come on McNally, you are taking the piss! I know for sure that at least one other game last night was a tenner!!!!
I've returned all the emails the club sent me about buying tickets for this game with;
"£30 is far too expensive" written on them, I hope they get the message!!!!!

I think there's more chance of winning the lottery Wonky, I might just stick my quid on the Euro Millions instead, and if I win I'll by you a pint, is that ok?
 
if the stadium is 2/3rds full, the media will be asking questions as to why we can't fill it, but they won't know the pricing policy of the club for cup games. Looks bad on us both ways.
 
I'm sure there are lots of you on here who use this 'twitter' lark, why not bombard DM with 'tweets' showing your displeasure ? Then maybe he might think twice about his pricing policy for these games next time <ok>
 
It's a 2.5 hour trip for me to 'The Fortress' as I like to call it and I have decided to bring my mum to tonights game as she doesnt get to see as many as she would liek and getting tickets was easy (not always the case). I will not be surprised if we end up watching a 1-0 defeat....... or a 1-0 win. What I would really want to see is a team who play exciting football and want to win the game - fingers crossed!

If the last two cup games are a guide, take your mum to B&Q it will be far more exciting for her there!!

i have spoken to mcnally about it. he basically just said what he was already on record as saying, about it all being towards the transfer kitty and that its better priced than a premier league fixture.
 
obviously i don't want to harm my club but i hope there are less than 10k in there tonight. if the gate is close to or above the previous two, less glamourous ties, then the clubs actions will be deemed correct. its too expensive for what is essentially a reserve game. had it been the semi final i could accept that, but not 4th round. the justification that its 'cheaper than a premier league game' also doesn't wash with season ticket holders, whose match price averages out at around £25 a game.
 
I think that this point, raised again for at least the third time, shows one of the major reasons why the Clubs now have no interest in this competition. The Clubs don't want the added distraction, use it as an exercise to give squad members a game and supporters will only turn up if they have to pay less than a conference game and, if it were £10, the admission price charged by teams at Kings Lynn level. If they charged £10 and £5 for kids and concessions then even with a full house they would be unlikely to collect £200k. As it is a Cup match we presumably are allowed to take out expenses but have to pay a proportion to the ' authorities ' and also, as there can be no replay, share the balance with Spurs. What would our net take be - £70k? Is it worth the effort? Is it worth the injury risk? As those who have followed the other threads know I am the minority of one who thinks that £30 is reasonable but, if you don't, I also think that you have to accept the philosophy of many Managers that the financial return is not worth the effort and risk and get out of the competition as soon as possible.
 
If you look at it this way. If there are three seats all at £30, then chances are maybe only one of the seats will be filled and the club gains £30 and fans miss out. However if those three seats were £10 each all three seats are likely to be filled and the club gains £30. The club makes the same amount and there are more fans.

There's probably an easier way of explaining it, but that's my idea of what is happening and what could happen if they reduced the price.

As Supers says it will all depend on the gate. If they get a full house at £10 then it is exactly the same as 9k at £30. If they get more than 9k then their pricing policy is justified. I am probably going to be hopelessly wrong but I think Spurs will bring a good following and the gate will be at least 15k.
 
Reading charged £12 against Arsenal, Wigan was £10.
I hear what you say superman, but to me it's pure greed and taking the fans for granted!
At the end of the season by the clubs own statement, we will be almost debt free, so why do they need to rip the fans off for the transfer kitty fund?
 
1950, i know you think differently but from my perspective this should not be about how much money the club want to make and its not about reserve players playing. its about future generations being able to sample football, maybe for the first time. its about 'going on a cup run' which all the players will want to do and supporters likewise. by filling the ground at a more competitive price it enhances our chances of progression as the atmosphere will be better which may lift the players further. more people in the ground means more money spent inside the ground. its not rocket science and i'm a little embarrassed that the club, which has been run brilliantly over the last three or four years has let us down on this. i hope they learn from it. i'm actually furious with them for overpricing this match. they've forgotten about the people who helped bail the club out more than anyone else. i don't buy this 'transfer kitty' excuse, although of course i would like the club to have as much as possible in january. this is now the third home cup game in a row - the club did not bank on us having theses games pre-season, so there's already a nice stash for the kitty. they are ripping us off, it really is as simple as that. they are seeing what they can get away with.
