In other words you were biased.

Torres went down easily, but you can't book him if there's contact.

Not at all biased.

Torres was probably booked for his outrageous simulation of an injury. He did that to try to get the opposing player booked, and he was rightly booked himself, in my honest view.

Does anyone have the exact wording of the rule/s? Given they call it 'simulation' I'd have thought exaggerating very minor contact would still be punishable.

what ever any body thinks there is no way he would of sent off two united players in the space of 6 mins at old trafford. he is a total disgrace.

Have to say Ivan deserved to go...can't go in like that.

Yes true, I know its letter of the law and everything but I can't help but think: what is Ivanovic supposed to do?
Young has ran across him and he has made every effort to avoid contact (whilst Young has done the opposite btw). Is it fair he should get a straight red card for what was an accident?

Well seeing as Ivanovic was the last defender and by fouling Young he denies a goal scoring opportunity, I'd say it was fair. Clearly it was an accident and unintentional, but it's a still a foul.

According to Dermot Gallagher you can, going down in an attempt to con the ref can be bookable too. I have no sympathy for Torres going down easily but Clattenburg just needs an excuse to give United an advantage and that's something that should be the focus(racism claims aside). You can always excuse decisions but there's no way Rooney should've got away without a second booking and that's the biggest problem for me, you can't go by the letter of the law on 2 sendings off against one team and not do the same for the other.

True but taking into account Young's appalling record of diving at Watford & Villa he has come into his own at the national academy of old toilet. Clearly or cleverly runs across Ivan with every intention of getting him sent off.

disgraceful

I think you'll find he was running towards the ball whilst Ivanovic wasn't.

No I think your find that in running on to the ball Young came across Ivan and being behind him attempted to pull up and if you watch it closely you will see that the minimal contact that occurred was not enough to have encouraged the fantastic dive that the cheating git executed.

Ivanovic clearly tripped Young from behind while Young was clear through on goal. There's a reason Ivanovic didn't protest it and Di Matteo agrees that it was the correct call.

Watch the way that Young throws his leg out to try and 'catch' Ivanovic.

Young is a cheating ****, pure and simple.

The ref ****ed the game up yesterday, he made several terrible mistakes and then tried to correct his mistakes with more mistakes, ****ing shambles and he should be demoted to the championship for a month.

Ashley Young.
Doesn't look like much contact here

As Ivanovic goes across to move inside or Ashley Young his left foot clearly clips Young's left foot mid stride. They're both running full speed, it's not going to take much to knock someone off balance. If this happened in the middle of the pitch it would have been a foul, nothing more, but it happened when Ivanovic was the last defender so the foul warranted a red card.

I'm not saying he didn't run across him just that he had every right to run across him as he was chasing the ball whilst Ivanovic was trying to head towards goal, I guess. It's tough to tell how much contact was there but you're right that he definitely has form for exaggerating contact and outright diving.

Young was looking for the penalty no doubt about it which doesn't surprise me tbh... I don't think Ivan really had to come the other side of Young because I don't think he would have scored. either Ivan or Luiz would have caught up with him and even if Young did outpace them I don't think he would have slotted it past Cech.

With Young involved there would have been little or none. <ok>
