We can't make it Monaco. We're all skint. Ever since July this year the recession hit us all real bad. :(

Unemployment is higher in central scotland now than it was 2 years ago. Plus we've had years of low/no wage increases whilst the price of food and fuel has gone up hugely.

Do you know anyone who doesn't work as a result of the recession?

I know loads who've had to change industry after getting papped - it's up to interpretation what caused them. Mostly people who worked in retail stuff.

Mate of mine worked in the Game store in Braehead = pumped

A guy I knew was manager of a shoe shop = was out of work for a couple of months and now works in a debt agency call centre

My sister got laid off from her job = spent a few weeks out of work but has another (much lower paid now).

My mate is a call centre manager for a telecoms company - got given his 90 days notification on Friday.

The single most laughable thing in this thread is the assertion that people have more money than any point over the past 3 years - visceral experience surely shows everyone that this isn't the case.

In case you don't trust your eyes/surroundings, there's always the Office of National Statistics (they're clearly Taigs, though)

I know people who've been made redundant, yes. And I know plenty of people who have less disposable income. Me for one. <ok>

I wasn't at the game on Saturday but that had nothing to do with economic reasons.

I was at another SPL game :bandit: <freebie>

Gave my card to my wee cousin.

The longest double-dip recession since the 1950s is expected to be declared over by official figures today.
Gross domestic product (GDP) – a broad measure for the total economy – is predicted by City experts to have grown 0.6 per cent between July and September, ending three consecutive quarters of declining output. But the bounce-back in the third quarter will be largely driven by one-off factors, such as clawed-back activity lost to the extra bank holiday for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and a slight lift from the Olympics.
However, some economists warn the UK is far from out of the economic woods and can expect growth to slow. Economic indicators, such as purchasing manager surveys, suggest the manufacturing and construction sectors remained weak, although the powerhouse services sector should deliver a robust performance.
Prime Minister David Cameron told MPs yesterday the “good news will keep coming” after reeling off a series of statistics about unemployment and inflation both being down. However, the response to Labour leader Ed Miliband led to accusations that Mr Cameron had breached rules on sensitive official statistics.
Labour said the comment was a “clear reference” to today’s keenly-awaited gross domestic product figures. But Mr Cameron’s official spokesman denied the Prime Minister was talking about the GDP figure

Looks like Rangers going into the 3rd Division is actually worse than a recession <yikes>
