did you never hear him at any of the players awards dinners? lambert used to rip the piss out of each and every one of them. he's very dour in front of the cameras but off camera he's nothing like that.

And couldn't resist getting his dig in -- saying to Chris Goreham "I don't mind seeing YOU, that's for sure." No prizes for naming the people he wasn't so keen to see! Still he'll see (or hear) enough of them at the Tribunal no doubt. <ok>

Can we have a thread about PL that doesn't mention this?

But good to see PL still has humour

I don't mind seeing that sort of banter, that's what I wanted to see in a return derby against lambert. Just a shame I can't see it that light heartedly given what's going on behind the scenes

Football is so ****ing filthy at the moment isn't it?

Supers, as a man with a bit of "ITK", what do you make of this Chelsea complaint against Clattenberg?

<laugh>

don't look at me!

i think its a sad tale. football cannot win in this case. i think clattenberg is one of the worst refs in the country if i'm being totally honest, but i DO NOT believe he used inappropriate language to chelsea players. therefore, if i'm right, players are fabricating stories about a referee! either way, its a disgrace, an absolute disgrace. football is a game i love but (ray wilkins impression coming up) my word, its a bloody difficult game to love right now folks.

Just to get back to Lambert, and given that he often says the opposite to what he means; I wondered, when I heard it, whether he misses the banter with Chris Goreham, and some of his senior players just a bit.

i'm pretty certain he said "miss seeing you" , which is totally different.

Apparently Clattenburg called Mata a Spanish Twat! Oh errrr how ****ing awful! I think "ugly Spanish twat" is far more appropriate!!
I wonder what the Chelsea players were calling him?
I agree with Superman that Clattenburg is not the best ref we have and was the wrong choice for that game, but a ref he is and players should have some modicum of respect! It's hard enough with players throwing themselves around, feigning injury time wasting etc etc. A lot of the 'banter' comes from having respect and drawing a line in the sand, from both sides! Managers are the worst cluprits, always blaming the ref for everything. Brendan Rodgers has soon got into the Liverpool ethos of always being the victim, Mark Hughes can't give an interview without blaming anyone and everyone, and I seriously believe Rudolph has completely lost his plot! It was so refereshing to hear Wenger saying that his team we're awful after the game against us, but still giving us the credit for winning.
I just want to watch football, not grown men having tantrums!

Tweeted yesterday by Steven Gerrard (probably not the real one) - Sir Alex Ferguson has told Howard Webb he must fight it out with Clattenberg for first team place! - Classic!

Clattenburg is our registered ref for the world cup in Brazil <doh> he his 2 reported incidents are Mata and racial abuse at mikel. Will be interesting to see what happens cos Chelsea have reported him to the met police aswell!

I think Chelsea are being too dramatic if they're reporting him to the police! The Terry incident is going to mean Chelsea would pull the trigger too quickly on any potential racial abuse against them.
