Nothing to do with Bing Crosby or golf, just a follow on from a comment made on another thread. It's about Whitt's penalties. How long before a keeper doesn't move left or right and stands his ground? It's worked this season up to now Pete, but be carefull they haven't sussed you pal.
Sparks Speaking from experience it takes a brave keeper to stand his ground. At least when he goes one way or the other it looks like he is trying and he gets no blame. If he stands stock still he will get stick from his own fans if the ball isn't hit straight at him - almost the reverse of the Kermongat (was that his name) penalty shoot out (lack of) effort against us 3 seasons ago.
It was Kemorgant - I really enjoyed Marshy saving that rocket..... If a keeper guesses correctly and goes one way or another, he's got a 50/50 chance of being right and probably another 50/50 chance at best of stopping it - but that's only if the taker goes either side. So the odds are in fact far worse than that. Bluey - we're talking here about keepers actually knowing, not guessing. We know all penalty takers are scrutinised by the opposition, and if I were Lee Grant on Saturday, I'd be inclined to stare Whitts out. Let's just hope Whitts gets the chance.
I thought that Almunia had started to go before the ball was hit. Whits is plenty good enough to adjust if he see's the keeper has gone. My question would be how long before the keeper dummies the dive then stays central? Reckon he could well get one smashed straight at him that way.
