So 'Arry is rumoured to be lined up to replace Adkins at Saints (wouldn't make any sense IMO, but how often is football governed by sense). Meanwhile, on this week's BBC Monday Night Club, journalist Ian McGarry said that all the boardroom talk is that 'Arry is about to replace Mark Hughes at QPR (makes a bit more sense). I was on the Saints board, where they are very divided over Rednapp, and put this question to them:

"If 'Arry goes to QPR would you (Saints fans) be more worried, or less worried, about your prospects of survival?"

Same question arises for a lot of other PL sides, including ourselves.

My answer, for what it's worth, is "Neither". Just wondered how many agree with me. <ok>

I would be. Whatever you think of Fernandes he isn't afraid to splash a bit of cash and Redknapp usually does well when backed financially.

Is it me or do most of the clubs managed by Arry seem to have money problems not too long after he leaves?

I doubt very much Southampton fans would want him back, as far as I'm aware they can't stand him.

I'm with Irdan. Tactically 'Arry's not too shabby, he's a more high profile manager than Hughes, and is decent in the transfer market.

Yup, bang on fella. Pompey, West Sham, Saints and even Bournemouth were all on the very cusp of going bust after he'd left them. Coincidence? I think not. Just waiting for Spurs to miss out on champs league again and be in financial meltdown this time next year. Watch this space.....

My sentiments entirely, but my question was whether, if he does take over at QPR, people think it will affect our chances of staying in the PL. A lot of people on here have been predicting that the relegated teams will be QPR + 2 others. With 'Arry in charge, do we think that becomes 3, not including QPR? And if so, do we think WE should be more worried (or less worried, i.e. 'Arry is even less likely to save QPR than Hughes)? As I said, I don't think we should be any more or less worried than before. <ok>

sorry robbie, i shall answer your question properly.

gut feeling, yes, harry would make a big difference to qpr. i think they'd improve on the pitch, simply by having someone positive at the helm as opposed to the miserable and dour hughes. redknapp may not be the most efficient tactically but hughes isn't either. if qpr appoint redknapp they will stay up, i'm 100% convinced of that. of course that will affect us but there are other strugglers down there to finish above and even with redknapp, i still feel confident that we can compete with rangers and finish above them.

<ok> superman. I agree. If they appoint Rednapp, they will almost certainly survive, but I'm inclined to think they will anyway with Hughes in charge. Which is why I don't think it would make our survival any more or less likely.

Ridsdale and 'arry as a double act would finish a club off in about a season and a half.

I don't think QPR are certain to stay up if they get Redknapp in. It will certainly increase their chances, but don't forget that Hughes was considered an extremely accomplished manager before he took over, and he hasn't managed anything. They only stayed up last season because of Bolton's incompetence, and I think the main reason for that is their discipline and their lack of team togetherness. What I think they need is a disciplinarian with excellent organisational skills - a Fabio Capello type figure, although obviously not him. I'm not sure Redknapp is the man for the job.
