Well the articles are beginning to flow in with rumors and thoughts on who BR will be signing in January. After his most recent interview, things look up on the striker front and that we will be able to land someone. Question will be is this striker going to be for the now or for down the road?

Edit: Names that are be coming more of a possibility

Sturridge ( RHC says nailed on)
Ince ( RHC says nailed on)
Walcott ( 6D thinks this is still going but with his current scoring rate, doubt it)
Sanchez ( winger on loan if it happens)
Jeffren Suarez (Sporting winger, not sure on loan or buy)
Butland ( scratching my head as why this would be a January purchase?)
Mirin ( French defender)
De Frij ( Dutch defender)
Ba ( Arsenal seems his destination or where he would like to go)

OUTS:
Cole ( please lord)
Downing ( just getting the kick up the arse before the boot out the door)
Robinson (loan possibly)
Ngoo (loan possibly)
Wilson ( If he is not out on loan will probably go on loan)

Other notes, Assaidi will be gone for a month with ACON but not that he is really being used anyway. Borini should be returning pretty soon to provide another option up front (again). <ok>

Some names we have been linked with already are:

Huntelaar ( Schalke)
David Villa ( Barca)
Tomar Herned ( Real Mallorca)
Son ( Hamburg)
Jurgen Locadia ( PSV)
Sturridge ( loan-potentail to buy) ( Chelsea)
Walcott ( Arsenal)
Lewis Holtby ( Schalke)
Eriksen ( Ajax- has come out and said January unlikely but summer.....)

Those are just some names to start off that we have been linked with. Of course we need a striker but what kind do you think we need the most? The man who resides in the box? one who can create on his own? Someone who can add more pace to the team?

<ok>

<doh> .

Another to possibly add, doubt he would come to the prem and the Serie A would be his destination but.....

Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi is keeping his transfer options open.

The Italy international has suffered two cruciate ligament injuries over the past 18 months, and has admitted that he just wants to get back playing, whether that is in Segunda Division with the Spanish team, or in Italy.

“My first goal is to return to the field of play as soon as possible,” he told Gr Parlamento. “If that's in Spain or Italy, I don't know.

“I do not know if I will go to Roma. I just want to recover and be comfortable with my knee.

“Inter? Who would not like to play for Inter,” he added. “They are a team that I like, with a project that continues to grow.”

Injury prone? yes. Quality he is though, still young, and at the moment witha team in the second division. Not sure if United have anything that would block him though.

Gary Hooper, Demba Ba, Darren Bent.

I dont think we need a striker for down the road. We need one for now.

Agree with one for now. hoping/praying that Huntelaar and Villa are actually true.

With regards to January it will also be interesting to see who leaves.

Cole and Downing surely anyone beyond those 2?

Cole I can see. Downing only if the right price I feel as Rodgers may feel he can use him in cup games ( if we are in any at that point mind). I just don't think we will need to sell to buy and I think there have been countless threads that have broken down how much we have taken off the wage bill, recouped from sales, and that we didn't exactly splash the cash this summer.

Cole and Downing if we can find someone to take them would guess pacheco and Wilson could be possibles if not think they will go out on loan. Doni might go somewhere if we can find him!

United have first option to speak to the player should they match any bid accepted by Villareal. so if Villareal accept £8m from Spurs & £35m from us - United could match Spurs £8m bis and get to speak to the player first.

Would united buy a player to spite us? Probably

Would we hypothetically bid £35m on him? Those days are long gone

This rumor started today...

Name: Tomer Hemed
Date of birth: 2 May 1987
Birthplace: Haifa, Israel
Position: Striker
Club: Real Mallorca
International: Israel (11 caps/8 goals to date - 23 October 2012)

What's the latest?
Hemed has enjoyed an impressive start to the season with Real Mallora, having bagged six goals in eight appearances this season (correct as of 23 October 2012) and now finds himself linked with a January switch to Liverpool. The Israeli striker has earned plaudits for his clever attacking ability and has been compared to Alan Shearer by former boss John Gregory.

I can see someone like him signing, a sort of unknown, where did he come from type of striker and not the high profile ones.
