So they just gave him two weeks rest and he was fine again, doesn't sound that bad even if a recurring injury can be worrying.

Well not too bad, but can we afford not to play him against Soton, may be a big question for AVB there.

I hope he and Dempsey don't even get on the plane to Maribor. I think Hudd or Livermore could do a job against them in the mid alongside Sandro.
 
Is this good news? our best player has a long standing injury problem, not ideal considering we look a mess in central midfield when he is missing.

AVB has to have a real back up plan.
 
Well if he needs two weeks break then give him it. Rather two weeks than make him play and aggravate it to 6 or 7. Lets hope the scan comes back positive though and he'll be 100% for Soton.
 
I'd like to see Huddlestone start again in the week and try to continue a pretty long road back to full fitness.
Chelsea's mobile attacking unit caused him no end of problems, but not everyone has that sort of strength in that area, so I hope it's not such a problem for that game.
If he runs out of steam again, then we could do far worse than to put Carroll on in his place. He impressed in Europe last season, so I'd like to see him given the chance again.
 
I thought Huddlestone played reasonably well. His passing was good after a bit of a slow start, and his corners were good as well, leading to a goal. The problem is that he's slow, which won't change. Southampton have been poor, but they're fast, and would give Huddlestone problems, I think. On the other hand, while I'm a Carroll fan, it would be throwing him at the deep end to start him. I might risk it, but AVB won't, I think. Huddlestone showed he was a decent option, and AVB is unlikely to send him down the pecking order in search of someone better.
