Well it would be nice to think that at least some woud have put ethics above results, but you are probably right. But a high profile CEO or politician would never have survived it, however good he was.
I do have this feeling this isn't over yet.
It just seems strange to me Terry would have gone to the trouble of requesting a personal hearing with FA but then choosing not to defend himself.

To be fair to us, we have previously sacked a player (Mutu) for taking drugs and he cost us a lot of money so we aren't completely without ethics. However if you really think Chelsea would sack a player with so much history and value to the club over this you're crazy. No top club would have dealt with this any differently in my view (Liverpool dealt with it much worse in fact - aka t-shirts and Dalglish)
If JT sued the FA it would bring sanctions on Chelsea from Fifa as shown recently in the Glasgow Rangers situation.
A statement from FIFA read: "At the time of writing we have not received any communication from the Scottish FA.
"In such a case, FIFA will ask the Member Association to take action so that the club withdraws its request from the ordinary courts.
"As a general rule, in case a club is seeking redress in front of ordinary court, as mentioned above the Member Association shall take direct action in order to safeguard the principle laid down in art. 64 par. 2 of FIFA Statutes, which shall be, in view of art. 64 par. 3 incorporated in the Member Associations’ Statutes.
"FIFA will closely monitor the situation so that the issue is resolved as fast as possible."
Rangers' case will now be referred back to the original appeal tribunal, which has been ordered to operate within the framework which exists.
Rule 66 allows for a maximum fine of £100,000 to be imposed, as well as ejection from the Scottish Cup, a suspension, expulsion from participation in the game and/or termination of SFA membership.

Bernstein has said the case has damaged English football........................................ Is he mad, sad or crooked. On the face of it it is a nothing statement, of course any case of rule breech so publicly reported is damaging, tell us some thing no other 8 year old could not figure out. So why say something so redundant? Well because I believe he is intimating everything would of been better if it had been ignored and swept under the carpet, i.e. typical FA behaviour. Have they no morals apart from those foistered upon them by the public and media? I get the clear impression that the FA and indeed many other's in football only really care about their and the sports reputation and not the actual issues at hand. So long as everything looks alright we should all be happy?

If Jt wasn't so thick then all of this would have been over a year ago (agree with an early post). We all know what JT said and that he meant it. We all know that he lies/cheats/covers up anything he can.
At the time, if he put his hands up and just said 'sorry, heat of the moment thing'. He would have got 2-3 game ban and mocked for a bit and we could have carried on, but NO? Not JT he needs to lie and try and cover it up, along with that little mouse face Cole who also lied (helping out his mate). But then again they both are lying cheats.
Then to top it off they ask that muppet Demattio (who by the way is looking more like 'Budda' every day) what the club are going to do and he says its an 'in house thing'! Yeah sure just like everything else in the past? What are muppet!
Then Jason Roberts starts his own campaign!!!!

I'm not going to rake over the details of it all and the many flaws in the FA's report (which I'd need more than 63 pages for) but to pick you up on the Di Matteo thing.
What do you expect him to do? Chelsea already released a statement saying they are keeping it in-house. Do you really think he's going to come out a day later and say we've done x, y and z?
They would also probably suspend or sack the other employer who had riled them up in the first place by saying whatever he did to get this type of retaliation, after all JT didn't just say this out of the blue. He was provoked, so what exactly was said to him ? If it was to do with his family or private life would you not as he did, try to find the most hurtful words to throw back at someone (allbeit the wrong ones in anger) If Ferdinand hadn't have said what he did in the first place none of this would have happened. It takes 2, all insults are insults no matter what the content and I personally would have been more upset by being called a ****ing C*** as to me this is the worse thing to be called. We are all different.

Quite possibly. Chelsea sacked Bosnich and Mutu for using coke didn't they? They then sued Mutu to get back his transfer value so if that's possible I can see other club's being willing to make that decision.
Terry's either very lucky or very unlucky that Mikel and Cole's head's blocked the word's leading up to him using the FBC term. If it was proven beyond any doubt that he was calling Anton an FBC he should expect far more severe punishment from his club, especially given that it's taken him so long to apologise and is still unwilling to accept the extent of what he did.
All fair comments. However, other players have been caught using racial abuse and I genuinely don't recall anyone getting sacked for it. And it's not just football, or indeed england. Dean jones was commentating on a cricket match involving South Africa and a muslim player took a catch. Jones had tio apologise for saying "great catch by the terrorist" but that was the end of it!
Many people believe there is an important moral distinction between foul and abusive language and racist hate speech.
I appreciate the FA were in a tight spot, not wanting to punish the 'victim', but in taking no action against Ferdinand it can be argued that the FA have condoned the use of foul and abusive language.
I would say that doesn't send out a particularly good image for the sport either.
What Ferdinand said was standard fare for a football pitch- Terry himself has said as much. It's nothing to do with not wanting to punish the victim. If you're going to punish Ferdinand for his part then you're setting a precedent to ban at least a handful of players in every match at every level.
