Two issues with the England match (at least):

    1. Why didn't they close the roof earlier? I also understand they didn't have ground staff available as 'they're not needed' because the roof can be closed (!)

    2. Lack of respect for the fans. Not keeping them informed is as least as disgraceful as (1).

Both should lead to heavy sanction from "the authorities". But it will be interesting if:

    > is anything done at all
    > is the punishment actually of any scale to mean anything and (interestingly)
    > how does it compare to any punishment given to the Serbs for their own brand of disgrace last night

Pitch is cutting up a lot as well as giving a poor bounce. Poland look the better so far but with some better quality in the final 3rd I can see us getting chances.

Give the ball away, as much as England have, against a better team, and they'll bury you!. Rooney has been one of the worst culprits. Along with Carrick.

A bit lucky to get the point. Positives were the centre backs and Milner in my opinion.

Really, YV? I thought the centre-halves looked a bit ropey. Cole got repeatedly roasted after Cleverly ran out of steam, too.
Glen Johnson was the best player in an England shirt, for me. Did his job reasonably well and frequently had to cover for the mistakes of others.
His clubmate Gerrard was bloody awful, though. Should've gone off with Rooney.

I think Southgate has summed it up rather well by saying no England player was worth more than a 6 mark. Poland fully deserved at least the draw and apart from the fact we didn't lose the match, I doubt if Woy will find too many positives from the game.

this is one of the poorest England team's i've seen in a long time.if we make the finals it would be just to make the number's up,we have'nt a chance in hell of winning anything with this side.

    A version I heard...
    * For the Euros, the pitch was 22cm off the ground to allow drainage and under soil heating
    * Since the Euros, it has been lowered to 2cm off the ground to save money

    Sounds about right to me...

I thought they did well and look composed despite the midfield giving the ball away a lot. Cole seemed to be running at half pace even in the first half, I really don't think he gave a ****. You're right that Johnson did well though. Some might be negative about it but we didn't really give them any gilt edged chances despite the amount of pressure they were put under. I wouldn't rave about the defensive performance but it was a small positive in a game without many others.
