jwm, do you think the sacking of PJ is imminent, or could be a while off (results dependent of course)?
not sure of your fixture this weekend, but i'm guessing a lot of you want to lose so the pressure increases on him

We are definately in unchartered territory here! My Dad can remember when we were last in the third teir and he's in his 80s now. The whole club needs sorting out from top to bottom. When you're charging a little north of 30 Notes for a ticket to the ordinary punter to come and watch this garbage what do you expect? We have a great stadium that will seat 30,000 so why not get the ticketing right to encourage the next generation and entice some of the supporters back? It's hardly rocket science! There are genuine reasons for the fall in attendances and the cost of tickets is the big one. We do have a big fanbase in comparison to many clubs in this league and in League 1 if we all pull together I dare say that we would be the biggest club in that league. The size of the club is irrelevant but all things being equal we would at least be in the promotion spots. The next choice of manager is vital to our long term prospects because we can't afford to carry on with this nightmare.

    Just seen this on Yahoo.

Plans are afoot to promote Suffolk as the "curious county".

    They've got that right!!!!!!!

Completely agree about the ticketing - charging north of £30 in the Championship does not seem too sound a strategy when you have falling attendances. Surely it would be better for the club if they got 20k in at £20 rather than 13k or 14k at £30? I know that the revenue is the much same but it would create an atmosphere and make PR a bit of a fortress plus you would get more bodies buying pies and pints at half time and more merchandising. I would also think that really cheap child and student prices to drag the youngsters in would be a plan. I do think that generally tickets at all levels are way too expensive and there is a serious danger that the young will not come along and get hooked providing the next generation of fans for both of our clubs.

“With the squad here, on paper, I could see Ipswich competing in the top six."

looks like your new signing is a stand up comedian warky <laugh>

Either he is referring to the top 6 in League 1 or he really believes that football is played on paper and not on grass.

i remember once hearing from the legendary [sic] mark fotheringham who stated that on paper, norwich had a manager and squad to be proud of, one that could win the championship. that manager was glenn roeder and that squad contained such luminaries as matty pattison, luke chadwick, jon otsemobor, robert eagle, juan velsaco and of course, 'fozzy' himself.

much the same as back then with our not-so illustrious captain, ipswich's new signing couldn't have been more wrong with his assessment if he tried.

You know very well that they have to talk a load of bollocks to the hacks of the press beforehand! He's hardly going to say "well I know this club is desperate and is probably going down with this clueless manager in charge but i need game time in readiness to go back to West Ham" is he!

Got to say that the parallels between them now and us then with a dodgy manager, shaky finances and a squad littered with loanees who are either never going to make it or are way over the hill and looking for a nice final payday before retirement.

Main difference is that our attendances didn't drop to their levels even during the darkest days of the Rodent's regieme and we were lucky to get McNasty and Lambert in charge to turn the club round. Once we hit L1 it could have gone really sour for us and I reckon that there is every chance that if Ipswich do go down they will not bounce back so quickly without serious change at the top.

we were, without question, lucky to go back up at the first attempt. most teams do not, no matter who they are. most teams such as wednesday, forest and leeds, all clubs you could say are bigger than ourselves, failed until their third or fourth go at it. some teams need a little spell in that league to clean out their system so to speak - we were one, ipswich are probably another in all honesty. whether that happens we shall have to wait and see...

My first choice for our new manager would be Mick McCarthy but I would be happy to settle for Billy Davis!

let me throw this rather bold statement at you warky.

i truly believe that had royston remained in charge of ipswich till today, you'd be challenging for the top six this season.

garside isn't the only one off his rocker!

    or am i...?
