I don`t know if anyone else on here agrees with me BUT watching England play bores me rigid!! If Lescott ever passed the ball forward more than 5 yds he`d have a feckin nosebleed!! and Jagielka isn`t much better. WTF has Cleverly done to get selected for the team, apart from playing for Utd,and the young lad from Liverpool(alright he looks a good prospect, but on the strength of a couple of Prem games??) Woys probably trying to curry favour with the L`pool fans having been a total disaster there. I`ll bet if `arry had got the job Crouchy would be in the team. I`ve been one of our biggest critics of our style of play, but I`d honestly prefer it to watching Lescott and Jagielka passing it from side to side. They were dead lucky last night, and Ukraine were by far the better team!!

I think that the general selection process is poor and players are selected on club rather than form. Gerrad was woeful last season, and Caroll being selected ahead of Crouch was a disgrace. I also wonder about the CB's and whilst I think Shawx has not improved the way we all expected, a call up with Terry, Cahill etc being injured seemed inevitable - but unfortunatley not!

If Shawx or Crouch played for Spurs for instance I think they would ahve walked into the squad!

Totally agree Smithers, and I think even Shawcross can make the same sort of passes that Lescott and Jagielka make!! You`re dead right it`s who these players play for that they`re selected, and I don`t rate Cleverly at all. Still like Defoe though!

I read yesterday that Crouch is in England exile because he refused to be part of the standby's for Euro 2012 so Woy appears to have frozen him out. Or is it simply that he now plays for Stoke. I somehow can't see Woy ever looking at Stoke players as potential England players.

Lescott is just not good or natural enough, no movement, he looked like he was being operated by remote control, badly!!

To be honest im beginning to come round to that way of thinking, very average players on ridiculous wages. Its the foreign players who make the prem as good as it is. We look poor against near enough ANY opponent. We will not win anything until we go to the roots of football and start learning English players to play the foreign way. We simply arent good enough at keeping the ball.

Watched the game whilst on holiday....

It bored me stupid truth be told.. the ammount of times we passed it sideways/backwards was totally negative. Typical of the way WOY is asking the team to play.
I thought the "Ox" was our best player, that say's it all for me.
He was the ONLY player who showed what he can do, well done to the lad. <ok>

    The rest?
    NO passion.
    NO Pride.
    NO Idea.
Not a hope in hell of winning anything. I doubt I will even bother to watch the other group games.

After watching last nights game,my opinion hasn`t changed at all. I find this style of play so frustrating I end up shouting and swearing at the TV!! Pass it forward to Rooney, who then passes it straight back, WTF is it all about???? They were all trying these intricate one-two`s three`s and even four`s only for it all to breakdown and start all over again!!! Is it true we are rated 3rd best team in the world?? If so there`s something seriously wrong with the rating system. We`re not even 3rd best team in Europe. There , I`ve had my whinge now I feel a bit better! I kept switching to the darts last night, and that was entertaining.

WELL said, I watched up until 50 odd mins... I lost count of the number of times player's passed it sideways. And STOKE are boring??? To those who slater "our style" you can not be serious. I'd rather watch us play wingers sometimes and getting the ball into the box anyday. Absolute ****e last night IMO.

It was like watching a very poor Barca res side without Lionel Messi.. WOY you can not walk the ball into the net and WHY did'nt Ryan get 15 mins? Some of those who played were CRAP. P.S. we did'nt need a keeper and it was the right time to let Ryan taste the atmosphere. He has no chance of playing next week either. I hope I'm wrong though. Joe, Ten Pin bowling on Eurosport was more exciting <ok>

Thanks Potts,I`m glad somebody agrees with me , you`re spot on with the Barca analogy as well, lots of teams are trying to copy them BUT as you say they haven`t got Messi! :emoticon-0148-yes:

I hoped Woy would have played Ryan for the later stages to give him his first cap. Instead he brings on Selvey for his first cap, having only played a handful of games for Liverpool and what has he done for them in that short time?

He's scored 3 goals in his last two games for us I believe... vs Young Boys and Udinese. So not nothing.

Made a bigger comment on the thread on the Norwich board about it if anyone cares to look.

Feckin hillarious, your comment Rev have some rep.

On Topic, I did think that John Shelvey had a decent game tbh. At LEAST he had a go, tried to create something <ok> PS when does his ban finish I think he's half decent for such a young lad. And no I did'nt read your other comments on the Norwich board either.

Read the comments on the Norwich board, I agree with Rev. When Shelvey came on I wasn't too impressed, but he did alright, and thinking about it, who else would you have had instead? Parker injured, Rodwell spending more time on Man City's bench than playing? I like Parker, but younger players (like Shelvey and Rodwell) need to be getting in, and in my eyes Shelvey is ahead of him, because he's getting far more regular football.

I couldn't be arsed copy and pasting it <laugh> perhaps should have... oh well.

I believe it's finished now... We played Norwich (league), Stoke (league) and also West Brom (cup) so that's three domestic games.

Just read it, that's fair enough as for Norwich fans wanting Holt to play for England, Crouch is ahead of him IMO. Glad to see Johnjo is able to play in the league now.
Good player just needs more games= experience at 1st team level. <ok>
