I would never belittle someone's knowledge of the game itself based on the level of football that they watch. Scummers' opinions on what happens on the field of play are just as knowledgeable and tinged with bias as fans of any club.

But I can't take seriously a L***n fan's opinions on how a club should be run off the pitch. If someone up there had a clue how to do it they would be well on their way to League One by now.
 
Kevin Crow is just a internet "look at me, look at me" blogger who takes himself far too seriously. He really has not done his research very well in calling us a feeder club and the other little nugget that is now coming from the EDL loving knuckle draggers of us losing our independence.
If the social inadequate had done a little more research he would have realised that the Pozzo business model is to financially support their teams by buying talent on the cheap, showcasing it through their clubs and then selling them on at a handsome profit - there is little chance the young talent from Watford will get moved to Italy or Spain. Their motivation is to use Watford as another place to showcase their stable of players. So feeder club? No completely wrong - nursery or showcase, then that is a different discussion. As for losing our independence, they should take a long hard look in the mirror...they are owned by a group of local businessmen who have loaned them over £3M and that will not carry on for much longer, no promotion this season and heads will rule and let's see just how much they take into account "being a fan"!
This is not different from all the other the historic jibs they have aimed at us and included in Crowes load of bollocks - ****s, allotments, vegetable wavers etc etc. and this is part trolling and part jealousy that we have again survived whilst they have been caught thieving and cheating 3 times!

My opinion is that it derives from some jealousy, misinformaiton, while trying to get in as many digs at us as they can... along with MK Dons and less-deserved, Stevenage. Calling them a 'proper' non-league club is just petty and sour grapes that they cannot get out of there themselves!

It is obviously slanted due to the rivalry, and expect we would try to be as critical as possible if was the other way round (although that would need little exaggeration) but no doubt they would love to be in the position we are in
 
They would love to have owners that care about football...Luton have had a lot that didn't hence their current position.

Well said.

Of the six or eight clubs to have gotten promoted ahead of L***n (I genuinely can't remember when their first season in the Conference was?), Stevenage are probably closest to the model that you would think they need to adopt. Sensible, sustainable investment in the playing squad and infrastructure. Giving a manager two or three years to build a team. And remembering that the Conference is a bottleneck: the Conference champions invariably go straight through League Two and consolidate in League One.
 
About the only thing in his piece that I agree with is

"For all the jibes and digs, the soul of your rivals reflects on you. No matter what we say, no one wants to hate a team unworthy of hatred."

IMO that certainly applies more to us than them. Since their becoming little more than a pub team, I have been questioning whether or not they are 'deserving' of our hatred - whereas our comparative success must surely have their collective gall bladders working 24/7 on bile production. The rest of the article is simply the result of that production - bilious drivel. ;)
 
Some time ago someone on here, I think it was Ak, wondered why we bother with them. For those of us that remember the real rivalry on the pitch I suspect that the dislike will always be there but I would imagine that for the younger generation of supporters it will become meaningless, particularly if Luton remain a non-league team. With the rise of Boreham Wood perhaps it is time for Luton to find meaningful rivals too.
 
If they get through to the 3rd Round of the FA Cup and we're drawn against each other, I fear that there will be a repeat of what happened at the League Cup tie in 2002, especially if we're at the Kennel with L***n being home of the EDL, our strong overseas connections and articles like this on the internet. That is only one of 3 times we've played them this millennium - the other 2 being the season we went up.
 
The writer must be straining his/her neck to see up as far as we are and then only seeing shoe leather. Any excuse to divert attention from a formerly criminally run club who have done their time and have pitched up in a pub league. Better Italian investment than no club at all.
 
Am I alone in finding this obsession with Luton tedious and the idea of referring to any other collection of humans, no doubt containing good and bad examples of the species, as scum as both unnecessary and the kind of stereotyping we should leave behind us? What energy I have, I prefer to devote to my own team. It's a personal view, I know, not shared by many, but I think there's a fine dividing line between rivalry and abuse. Showing my age I expect :emoticon-0131-angel

I have a REAL problem with Leeds Utd!
 
i have a problem with Luton Theo, but my problem is one of split loyalties. My dad was brought up in Luton during the war, but his beloved aunt and uncle, and had he had any interest in football, no doubt at all i would have been a Luton supporter. I grew up having a soft spot for Luton, and being embarrassed about it! i'm afraid i can't hate them, but i can enjoy the banter, though i do agree, with them doing so very badly constantly, there really isn't much fun in it anymore!

I am, however, very much with Yorkie, i don't like Leeds one bit! lol
 
At work, it's currently wind up the Liverpool fans - primarily by a WBA fan along the lines of why is a club with their great history in the position they're in etc - I'm definitely enjoying that! I tend not to say anything though.

I think at the moment, our rivalries are different from season to season - it's been QPR, now you could maybe say it's one of the SE London clubs.

In that recent (admittedly poor) survey of football fans on rivalries, Leeds came top of Watford's list since the Lutonian absence from the FL.

Pretty weird. I don't think there's a club Leeds care less about than little Watford.
 
My Grandfather, who introduced me to football and Watford, was a Huddersfield boy. He lived in and watched Huddersfield throughout their glory years (first team to win the league three seasons running), which were far more glorious than anything Leeds have ever achieved. He always pointed out to me that the only reason Leeds United exist is because when Leeds City were thrown out of the league and expelled from the FA for cheating a new club had to be created.
