A hearty good morning to all our members.
Today’s Flat racing comes from Ascot, Yarmouth, Gowran Park, and All-weather meetings at Wolverhampton and Dundalk.
Jump racing comes from Fontwell and Hexham.
Since I couldn’t pick my nose recently- let alone pick a winner- I shouldn’t put too much faith in my selections.
However, here goes...

2.20 Ascot.
Tartiflette. Has been running consistently and looks to have each way chances off her current mark. She ran fourth behind Free Verse in a Class 2 last time and now steps down to Class 3 again.
Best Price 12/1 (Several).

2.55 Ascot.
Gifted Girl. Had useful juvenile form last year and ran well on her final appearance in a Class 1. On her only run this year, she was slaughtered by Fallen For You back in May at Kempton.
However, this Class 3 contest should be well within her scope, although her fitness must be taken on trust. The booking of Frankie Dettori looks significant.
Best Price 8/1 (Several).

4.40 Ascot.
Ocean’s Minstrel. He hadn’t run since a good fourth in 2010’s Cesarewitch behind Aim To Prosper- when having a decent reappearance run at Newmarket recently.
If anywhere near his old form, he could take this.
Best Price 12/1 (Bet 365)

Finally, looking forward to the Arc De Triomphe on Sunday.
When I think of the two Arcs I remember most- Sea Bird’s and Dancing Brave’s triumphs (what class fields they were!), Sunday’s renewal looks very poor.
Nonetheless, best wishes to all members' bets/fancies, and let’s hope it’s a good race.

I'll be watching the Aussies against Windies in the Twenty20 semi-final today. They should win, provided Chris Gayle doesn't take them to the cleaners!
Will you be watching it?

Old Marodima's front running tactics suit Fontwell and he could lead them a merry dance there today.

No probably not mate. Love the cricket, but if I have to crawl out of bed at an ungodly hour....no chance. :)

Thanks Tam <ok> Hope the weather clears up down here it is abysmal at the moment, I ceratainly will have a good day today free day out when I go out with my old man :) Its a funny track fontwell, never forget seeing andrew thornton striding to victory by a good 10-12 lenghts, the saddle slipped and he fell of <laugh>

What time does the match start in Aussie, Cyc? It's 2.30pm in UK. Is that midnight where you are?
If so, that shouldn't be a problem. Get yourself some pie and peas (an old Lancashire treat) and curl up on the settee with the dog- or your wife.
If they lose, you can always blame me!
 
Have a good one today Woolie, if I was on course my little placepot would be: Anal-una (little play with the name), There's no panic (back after a long lay off), Coffee (due to go up 7 lbs and main competitor a n/r), King Edmund, Amigayle and finally Double Choc,(raised in trip and c/d winner. When that comes in you can place all the dough on Rendl Beach in the lucky last!!:emoticon-0105-wink:
It's great speculating when not having a bet, at least it will give me something to look out for on a dull Friday afternoon. I'll pop on a train to East Sussex for the celebrations!!

ROTO did a write up on CIRCUS ACT back in early August. He was a NR then. He is down as 3rd reserve for the 9:00 at Dundalk tonight. What do you reckon of his chances if he goes tonight ROTO? Paddy Power has him priced up at 16s but i'm guessing that is an antipost market. Would have thought he might have been bigger, forcasted 40s. What are the chances there are 3 NRs on polytrack course though? Interesting he is stepped up from 7f to 1m4f! :emoticon-0104-surpr
 
Yarmouth 12:00 - DEVINE ANGEL 25/1 - Outpaced over 6f in a very hot race on debut, beaten 30 lengths tho was given a very easy time a long way out once a win was obviously not on the cards, subsequently sold for £650! <rofl> Step up to a mile will suit, breeding suggest she will handle the ground, slower ground being in her favour. I'm going to back her to triple her new owners investment on first run! :emoticon-0105-wink:

I've got a sneaking feeling for Southfork in the 2.10 - he plugged on gamely on his last start over in Ireland and I think the move to a new yard and a slightly longer trip will help him. He stuck on really well over 2 miles on heavy last time so I think he'lll be running on when most of these have cried enough and I think 6/1 looks a nice price.

The Novices Chase at 2.40 looks a very interesting contest with Paul Nicholls There's No Panic going chasing after a spell on the sidelines. He was rated 128 over hurdles but has not seen the track for 540 days so preference today is for Tim Vaughan's First Fandango, rated 139 over hurdles and regularly running to that mark last season when not beaten far by Rock On Ruby and finishing a fine 3rd at Aintree on his last start in May. The race looks to be between these 2.

Coffee looks progressive and can defy the penalty in the 3.15 and I'd tend to agree with Tam that Marodima could steal the 3.50 from the front. In the 4.25 I'd go for the Twister's horse Mavalenta as the stable appear to be in good form and in the 5.00 Nudge & Nurdle can complete a Twister double.

The last race on the card is a very interesting Maiden Hurdle. Taking them from the top, we start with 2 Alflora geldings, Al Alfa and Glenford Dorie, who should appreciate the cut in the ground and should show more than they did on debut, although I don't expect them to be involved at the business end. Number 3 on the card is the former John Oxx trained Nebula Storm who was rated 102 on the flat and has had a pipe-opener over hurdles, finishing a close 3rd on heavy ground at Newton Abbot. If he has learnt from that experience he could be a big threat today. Connections of Nomadic Dreamer will be hoping he can get round, whilst Rendl Beach looks a worthy favourite. A dual bumper winner for Peter Niven, Rendl Beach is now with Rebecca Curtis and AP gets the ride today - usually a deadly combination and punters seem to be getting stuck in early, Bet365 now 6/4 after being 7/4 early this morning. To Be Frank has, to be frank, no chance, and Winds Of War looks exposed in this company. We then have a couple of 4YOs: firstly, Alberobello, by Old Vic out of Tourist Attraction, winner of the 1995 Supreme Novices Hurdle for Willie Mullins - breeding which surely makes his double-figure odds seem attractive on debut. The other 4YO in the race is the John Ferguson runner Halifax, formerly with Mark Johnston on the flat where he finished 5th in the Queen's Vase and achieved a rating of 93. He's not seen the track for over a year but will nevertheless be very interesting on debut for the yard. Charlies Lady looks outclassed.

In summary - Rendl Beach to score for the champ but a nice e/w dabble on Alberobello as well.

Interesting runner tomorrow at Newmarket. Broadway Duchess New Approach filly out of a Giant's Causeway mare. Forecast odds 25/1.
 
Morning all.

Decent card at Fontwell today not sure if I will be punting but some interesting types out. Was a fan of NEBULA STORM on the flat when with John Oxx and 2m6f over hurdles should suit him well in the lucky last. Around 9/2 atm but I will just be watching I think <ok>

Really looking forward to seeing DECLARATION OF WAR this evening at Dundalk. Won very well on Sunday and imo is a top prospect for next season. Should win tonight and maybe go on to contest the BC Turf/or BC Dirt like Mastercraftsman did after winning this race a few years ago.

A hopeful each way double for me at Ascot

Gosden's Tempest Fugit in the 16-05 .. absolutely hosed up at Wolverhampton LTO, this is a huge step up, but at 25-1 (Stan) worth a look. I'm doubling with Party Line in the 15-30. Voodoo Prince is a worthy favourite, seemingly running a stone below his revised mark, but I'm not convinced he will get 12f. He should on breeding, but should doesn't mean will. Party Line does get the trip and handles the going - each way at 12-1 (various)
