View attachment 17933 vs It's the second home game in the space of 4 days for Charlton this evening when they take on a Watford side currently one point and one place above them in the league. As you all know Charlton where held to a draw against managerless Blackburn Rovers. The score was 1-1 with Jackson getting the goal from Charlton. Watford however won away from home beating Huddersfield Town 3-2. Their goals where scored by Forestieri, Hall and Deeney. It is hard to predict this game because I hardly know any of these new players they have brought in so cannot comment on how good they really are. Looking at their league position it looks like a winnable game but they are coming of the back of an away win at Huddersfield so confidence is likely to be high. I expect Powell will go with a 4-5-1 again and in this formation I believe BWP will be ineffective. I think Rob Hulse will come and score and we will win 1-0.
Good work, as always Think this'll be tight and has a Desmond all over it, but i will stick my neck out and go for a 2-1 home win
Only one change. Fuller back to play instead of Jackson, so 4-4-2. Strong side if Fuller really is fit. Razak and Hulse on the bench, though the text of the OS preview says "Dale Stephens partners Abdul Razak in the centre of midfield" so maybe that was the plan until late tests on Fuller. My forecast: 3 - 2 to Charlton.
Mambo starts for Wimbledon. He'll see plenty of action playing in defence there. Meanwhile sounds deadly dull at the Valley. Watford playing more in the Graham Taylor style than what we expect from Zola.
Just before half-time Forestieri sent-off for two yellow cards for diving. Ref either had to give him a second yellow or award a penalty. Big decision.
Playing against 10 men now, we surely have to win this, not to do so would not bode well for the season.
For God's sake, hold your nerve under fire. There's still time to turn tonight around, and the season is still young (ish). keep the faith.
Ouch. I hoped for better at half time, but if we're going down the loans route, I suppose we have to be patient. Not always easy to play against ten men, but to be honest, that was a rubbish result, and CP will have to earn his pay this week to turn it around for Blackpool.
Not there tonight but had a match report from mrs svc who did make it. She was livid with Hamer who apparently was flapping about doing his best drama queen and blaming Morro, Cort and Solly for his errors. Mrs SVC is demanding that we push the Button and try out the non hormonal option! Apparently Morro tried to tell him to calm down but to no avail! Anyone else there comment on Hamer?
Will post tomorrow in depth, but the fact we aren't scoring when on top and opposition scoring when not is a concern. They are a bit naive in the step up, but long term I think they will settle. We aren't out of our depth like the last time we were in this division, but we just need to learn, and more importantly apply that killer touch. We shouldn't have lost, but we did. The habit needs to be kicked. New players aren't the answer, the mentality is. On to Blackpool (and the £90 return train ticket).
I was there and have never seen a more synical cheating nasty team as zolas Watford truly awful I'm gutted to of lost that. We played well at times ok at others undone by 2 set pieces dominated the game as we did on Saturday Thought Wilson had a decent game Hollands not so good but we shouldn't of lost. And why when keepers time waste for 45 mins do refs book them in injury time what's the bloody point NO bloody point. We lost to palace I hate palace but we lost fair and square tonight grrrr I HATE Zolas WATFORD
SEcond half we had loads of pressure but it was mostly hopeful high balls into the box, and wasn't going to get us anything against Watford's defense. Danny Green- terrific on saturday ineffectual tonight. I don't want to see Solly at LB for another 2 months please. I'm seriously wondering if BWP should be dropped back to play attacking mid, we need some guile and imagination there. I didn't notice Hamer much, he had another easy game.
