IF (the Fail are accurate...I know, I know!) Sherwood and Levy are due for talks this week then any 'frostiness' in their relationship should get resolved. If he goes will it affect much? He has done very well with our youngsters, but I'm sure we'd move on.

I think he'd be mad to go to work for the headless chickens myself, I'd leave it to Shearer.
 
The fail really are ****. If he's never had any managerial aspirations why would he want to become a manager?
 
The purpose is not to dissect quote accuracy (VdV wasn't going to Hamburg either!) but more the subject matter. You spend the entire T. Windows posting speculative transfers based on dubious quotes hbic, whats your problem here? :)
 
So Sherwood has a frosty relationship with Levy? and also AVB, why does he keep falling out with people at the club?
 
I think losing Sherwood would be a massive blow. Ever since he's worked alongside our academy players, a lot have featured in the first team and not looked out of depth, I'm not saying it's purely down to him, credit needs to go to Inglethorpe, Ramsey, Ferdinand, McDermott etc but I don't think it's any coincidence that since Tim took on an advanced role in working with the reserves/ academy, we've seen a big rise in home grown talent come through the ranks.

I'm actually surprised he hasn't got any managerial aspirations as early signs suggest to me he'd have a future as one in the game. I for one hope Levy ties him down to a new long term deal.
 
Mornin SoS, I tend to agree there, initially I don't think I was alone in showing early detest for Sherwood, after slating Spurs at every opportunity whilst a Setanta pundit. That made me question whether he was here just because of a job or whether he loved the club. Thinking about it, that raises a debate as to whether that should matter and has any extra benefit, but without digressing, some names have come on leaps and bounds since he's been here, so more than likely no coincidence but a result of the collective tutelage you mention.
 
Hasn't Spurcat said on a number of occasions that Levy really rates Sherwood. Surely that suggests they aren't feuding?

Absolutely, of the names I mentioned, I think Chris Ramsay is a very underrated member of our coaching staff. Once or twice a year he gives an interview to STVO and it's always really insightful and has even mentioned a couple names who he thinks can make it or who are developing well. Ryan Mason has been one of them, Ramsay, Ferdinand and Sherwood have mentioned him in previous interviews as a great talent. Seemed to have been troubled by injuries but when he does feature for the reserves, more often than not he's on the scoresheet, good to see he was given a start against Carlisle and his amazing 10 second cameo as a sub in the Europa vs Lazio <laugh>. A mate of mine is actually friends with him, told me he earns £4k-a-week. Incredible money for a player who hasn't "made it".

Back to Sherwood, I too was initially surprised at his addition to the back room staff after his constant slating of us but in fairness, a lot of pundits who comment on one of their previous clubs tend to be more critical, hopefully that's because they want to see the best for them. Sherwood is certainly doing his best for the club since his appointment so I tend to feel his negative comments for Setanta were purely down to wanting us to succeed and therefore pointed out every aspect possible where we went wrong in the hope we'd improve on it.

Interesting info on Mason, a player i know little about. I like reading stuff on our youngsters from yourself, YV, Gio and of course Spurcat. I just do not have time to keep tabs on that side of the club. I have enough trouble getting to first team games tbh, so I rely on the more local posters here who do get the opportunity to see them first hand. 4k a week!, blimey, in contrast, my stepson who was a big player in the non-league round here, was on 350 a week take home, so 500 nearon. Youngsters at the same club were lucky to get their petrol paid! <laugh>

As for TS, interesting theory of yours, wish he'd come out and said that if its the case....I wouldn't have thought of him as such a tosser! <laugh>
 
i would've thought £1k a week (eg, £50k a year) would be plenty for academy players. That is a BIG wage in the grand scheme of things for someone of that age.
£200k a year is the sort of wage a director of a decent sized company, not a teenage football wannabe.
 
£4k pw for a couple of years and a sensible head (ok, unlikely for a footballer) and you are set up fairly nicely even if you don't make it as a footballer. You could be living mortgage/rent free for instance.

Thanks mate, I love keeping an eye on the youngsters and always try and get to 2 or 3 games of theirs a season. Alex Pritchard and Bentaleb (SP?) looked really good for Spurs vs Barca a week or so back so I'm definitely keeping an eye out for two those in the near future.

I too couldn't believe the amount, I was told this back in 2010 I think (was the same day Arsenal beat us 3-0 at the Emirates) so this could have risen since then. Pretty gutted I gave up football now! Was a tasty player back in my Sunday League days! :(

I was thinking the exact same. Lets say a 3 year contract, he'd earn £624,000 before tax and excuse me if I'm wrong - many will have noticed my maths isn't great - He'd be taking home roughly £310,000 from them 3 years. On that money, he'd live a pretty decent lifestyle for a good few years providing like you say, he had a sensible head on his shoulders. This is of course, he packed football in after them 3 years. Unbelievable really, and some have the audacity to moan they want more when on £100k+ a week...
 
£310k is a conservative take-home amount i think. Only the stuff above £125k (might be wrong) is 50% tax and only the £40k(ish) -> £125k is 40%.
I can't be arsed with the maths or googling to work it out though.
