but we really are a goalscorer away from a good side... our pressing is 1st class. even with 10 against scum we hounded them.

last night proves out 2nd 11 is strong.

pray suarez can bag 20 goals in the league and we should be top 4.

oh and we need a new keeper jones seems nice but hes not good and reina is becoming a joke.

anyone care to throw any names into the hat of to who you would realistically sign?

I say stick with Reina as No. 1 but we need better cover than Jones. There is very little info about Doni but something tells me he is not coming back.

I thought Jones was unlucky to concede the first goal - if you look carefully, Olssen has his hand over Jones's face (whether contact was made, I'm not sure) .

But he recovered well and looked composed from thereonin.

For a GK, we should look at Butland. Young, already pretty good, going to improve and get better and very quickly going to be better than Reina. If we were to buy him, wouldn't be surprised if he was 1st choice in under a year

    Keeper: Jack Butland

Strikers: David Depetris & Henrikh Mkhitaryan would probably cost less than £2m and are both brilliant. Other possibilities are Demba Ba, Aubameyang, Walcott or Charlie Austin from Burnley

Main thing is the goal scorer but based on what I've seen so far I think we are going to need to improve the defence aswell before we are a really good team.

For me Skrtels not good enough, he had a good first half of last season but other than that he's been crap. I'll be amazed if any of you defend his performances this season. Left back is a huge problem. For me Enrique has completely lost the plot, I'd rather see Robinson play on the weekend. Kelly and Agger are good players but injury prone. Johnson is superb going forward but dodgy defensively and Reina's recent form is clear for everyone to see. Saying that, Coates hasn't done much wrong when he's played, Wisdom and Robinson look like they are ready for a chance with the first team. But if we end up playing with a back 4 of Johnson,Skrtel,Agger,Enrique regularly we aren't going to get very far.

For me aswell as a striker, a quality centre back and left back should be major priorities if Coates and Robinson cant prove they are ready between now and january.

Totally agree with the OP! Said last year we needed a decent wide man and so steps up Stirling who is doing a fantastic job and a striker - Just the one to get then! I don't think we need to be looking at a marquee signing either, there are some class players out there and hopefully our new scouting team can work well on that project as a priority.

I'm still baffled by BR for taking Stirling off at the weekend, by far our most threatening player and seemed to shine in ripping Evra a new one! Still, BR knows best!

I think he said it was a tactical substitution as MUFC were gaining more possession thanks to having the extra player.

Pepe will settle back down soon hopefully but if not obviously Butland, Al Habsi would be on my list of possibles and I bet BR would go sniffing round Vorm.

    Bit harsh on Jones.
He made an error, yes, but he recovered well.

Fair enough but I'm a strong believer in attack is the best form of defense and we seemd to be doing alright in all honesty! Still, like I said BR knows best

We have young players for the future in nearly every position other than GK so Butland would be a great buy.

I would agree that he started badly but he seems to be settling down now and has improved a lot, if he can keep his current form going then he should have another good season.

It's really strange, I read somewhere that he was on compasionate leave back in Brazil but even if you dig around the internet there's very little information.

IMO we need a decent second choice keeper.I'm far from convinced Brad is good enough.

Also, any talk of dropping Pepe is utter madness. Not on his best form at the mo,but a top

keeper all the same and still has years ahead of him.

  17. This may surprise a few considering his actually overall performance but I was impressed with Yesil last night. He has an eye for goal, has good movement and seems to know where to be at the right time. Considering he is only 19 and it was his first senior game after being 'fast tracked', I thought he did alright and there was signs that he could become a top player. Unfortunately, I don't think that will be this season though <ok>

  18. A decent second keeper would put Pepe under pressure to perform too, something he is lacking at the minute.

It is similar to the Johnson situation a season or two ago, he didn't have competition for his RB spot and as a result wasn't playing particularly well. Since the emergence of Kelly, Flanno and now Wisdom, he has been playing much better <ok>

Same, I thought he showed alot of promise despite missing a few 'easy' chances - although it was his first game for us and we won anyway. Looking forward to seeing more of him.

Assaidi was an inspired buy on the cheap and shows you can buy quality at a cut deal, really impressed with him last night. I hope BR digs into his list of strikers over January and does the same

  20. He as done well against Young Boys and WBA, I want to see Assaidi in the first team now. My only concern is wheat the front three would then look like. Suarez is obviously going to play and it looks like Sterling's forced his way in now, Borini is the one looking a little shaky so I'd drop him to the bench. A trio of Suarez, Sterling and Assaidi although this is the strongest three IMO, it is also where my concern lies. All three like to get their head down and run with the ball, I can't see a lot of interchanging and link-up play between this trio.
