I've just been listening to a podcast where they were talking about the Sony awards. Unless it's changed the radio stations make the nominations themselves, they can put forward as many shows as they want for as many awards as they want, but they have to pay £100 a shot.

McLean's doing the job of a big target man at the moment....how he can be judged as a striker when Pearson is asking him to this job every game is beyond me?! Count the number of headers he contests compared to Fryatt or Simpson in a game. He scored a great goal against Cov not so long ago....he won the inital header, fryatt held it up and McLean smashed it in! Now imagine if he didn't have to win the header to start off with. Get a big man in this summer and you'll see a different player in McLean.

Yeah but GC, appearances would come few and far between because McLean will have Fryatt, Simpson and the new striker higher in the pecking order.

Isn't it all about competition for places though? Plus no-one can ever predict when an injury will occur, so you have to have the squad numbers there already.

Yes but when he's the worst of 4 strikers, I personally could only see him as a solid back-up, but he could get a start in physical games like Coventry who don't play that good football. He wouldn't get in ahead of Fryatt and if the big man is someone along the lines of Morison or Graham, I doubt he'd get a major look-in there. But he's definately a good back-up.
