John Bond- father of our former assistant manager Kevin & close friend of Harry has passed away aged 79.
He was manger of Man City when we beat them in the 1981 FA Cup final.
RIP John

Yes, RIP.

He was a personality.

His death reminds me of the first time City splashed the cash in the hope of instant success. I was only a kid at the time, but even then could see the folly in spending huge sums on the likes of Steve Daley and Kevin Reeves, not even above average to flight players. Whart did JB think he could see in them that the rest of us couldn't?

John Bond didn't sign Steve Daley, Malcolm Allison signed him.

I was living in Norwich when John Bond was manager there and he was a real extrovert guy. People think Harry could talk, but Bond by far exceeded him. He did do some scouting for us in recent years, checking on future opponents from his base in the north-west and would always watch our games when we were up that way. He and Harry were very close.

did'nt they used to play in the Same West Ham team, along with Bobby Moore,Peter's and hurst?

Looking at my Spurs programmes,Bondy did play with Moore but not with Harry.
Harry actually scored a goal against us in our 4-1 loss to the Hammers at the Lane.
I still have a vision of a young Harry flying down the wing. The little whipper-snapper!!!!

I think Bondy and Harry both played with Moore, but not at the same time, but of course Harry was 15 years younger than Bond.
