I thought Vaughan looked sharp pre-season, certainly looked like he had goals in him....and he's turning over nicely at Hudds.
You obviously don't rate Ged Steer or Dec Rudd then? dress it up all you like...that signing was absolutely POINTLESS....the guy couldn't even get in a struggling Blackburn team lol, he couldn't challenge DR for second place never mind Ruddy! And how much did we pay for him? i heard 2mill but i hope i heard wrong??
I'm not gonna get embroiled in petty point scoring with you....just don't be too upset when we finally get relegated with a pathetic points tally and i say 'told you so'....and don't be too upset when the inevitable 'Hughton out' calls intensify, just speak to people in pubs before games - fans patience (rightly or wrongly) is wearing thin already.....you hardcore 'believers' on here live in cloud cuckoo land.....you don't even speak for the majority of fans City, you're just a deluded vocal minority where you always think everything is nice and cosy.
I personally would rather play crap/long ball and scrape ugly wins than all this all too familiar and frankly boring "ohh we were unlucky, if only this, if only that" patter that you insist on keep knocking out.

So called Norwich City fans/supporters who are EVEN thinking of replacing Chris Hughton are NOT true supporters of our club. They are mindless idiots, who's only claim to any form of status is ringing a radio program to make stupid, crass, ignorant statements!
I would reply to this moron (Mike); the club gives YOU three more games, if you don't improve your attitude/performance you will be replaced someone in the season ticket queue who is a real supporter!!

As most posters on here will know, I'm a supporter of people being able to express their views without having abuse hurled at them, BUT I'm afraid that some sections of our fan base are sorely testing my patience!!
I can only suggest that they seek help, some form of counselling.. and stay away from the club until commonsense
prevails.

I honestly think we'll be fine this year. Missed a couple of wins admittedly but there will always be an area which has clicked as much when a new manager comes in, at the moment we are not clinical enough, but patience is a virtue. I still think this is the best football our team have ever played in my lifetime at the moment.

Another point, I don't think Howson has quite got to his level yet either. I would consider playing Fox against Liverpool and give Howson a bit of a rest. He hasn't been bad but I think he hasn't been as good as last season.

as you're a new poster i won't give you both barrels but you are miles off the mark with much of what you say.

one thing i would agree about is that i too thought vaughan looked sharp pre-season. however, do i genuinely believe he'd have been able to score goals in the premier league? probably not. will he get injured? almost certainly though i hope not of course. would he be first choice centre forward for us? no. are we missing his goals from last year? no.

i rate jed steer very highly, rudd not so much but i think he'll have a decent career somewhere. both young keepers who are promising but nothing more at this stage. a year ago everyone was clamouring for a new keeper yet this summer when one comes in its a mistake! bizarre to say the least. i wouldn't say it was a high priority signing but i totally see the logic in bringing in a more talented keeper to challenge our number one. as for the reason he wasn't playing at blackburn, perhaps you should ask their fans why he wasn't as they all felt he should be their number one and is much better than robinson. we most definitely did not pay £2m for him - more like £750k.

i personally find people who say 'told you so' to be pathetic little prats but thats your choice i suppose. i won't be upset if we go down - i know how football works and if you support a club like norwich you have to expect to go up and down the divisions on a regular basis. anyone calling for hughton out is a moron, simple as that. you have no understanding of football if you feel that way (i'm not saying that you are calling for it). for 'patience to be running thin' after FIVE games is bordering on serious mental illness.

i think, judging by your writing skills that you're about 15 years of age and are poorly off school today but you need to think long and hard about what supporting norwich city is all about. i've supported them for a very long time and its 75% miserable and 25% great (and i'm being optimistic with that) - and trust me when i say that right now, these are the good times.

I believe even if the worst scenario happens and we go down that CH will not be sacked. Unless of course we go down with only the three points we already have.
Its not too early to recognise that he has changed our style and yet we have still been in a position to have had enough chances to have had 12 points by now. Yes, we could have won yesterday just on chances.
It is worrying that we aren't taking our chances. Its no good pretending otherwise. We aren't quite firing there. And as much as the team need overhauling after the Fulham debacle, its clear we either need some luck or the right combo to click.
I was shocked that Simeon didn't start considering Newcastle were going to play two centre backs who probably relished the strength battle rather than a guy who would run them off their feet.
We can conjure up a few combos up front but its obviously down to CH to try them in training and wait for the results. And he can't help poor form from his players. However, IMO, Martin and Morison are not viable options. I believe long haul its down to two from the other three.
 
Superman, we have had a couple of occasions when we've had very different opinions this summer and early season, but I agree totally with your thread. I'm actually very impressed with what Hughton has done so far and I think he is tackling problems that would have had to be tackled even by Lambert (and I don't think Lambert has the patience to do as good a job at it as Hughton). Even if we go down, I think we should stick with Hughton. He got Newcastle out of the snakepit of that league with more than 100 points, remember.

Do I think we'll go down? Maybe, mainly because this is a hell of a tough league this year. But in terms of our performances, I don't think we're one of the three worst teams from what I've seen so far.

And thank you superman as i was having recurring nightmares about the 2 milliion i heard we spent on that reserve keeper :emoticon-0107-sweat
 
I am struggling to be optimistic here as before a ball was kicked in anger this season, it was blindingly ****ing obvious to me that we did not have enough quality up front. Many poo-pooed me and it gives me no pleasure at all to say 'I told you so'. If we really wanted to stay up this year we should have gone that extra mile to bring in a quality striker. Yes, you do have to pay over the odds for strikers sometimes because the're the ones that win you football matches. It's all very well playing pretty football and indeed creating chance after chance, but you need that someone with an eye for goal who will hit the target 9 times out of 10.
I do feel that some of you seem frightened to criticise the club because, thus far, this regime has made few mistakes and to a degree I can understand that. Unfortunately, I fear we will probably be relegated as come January players we could have possibly afforded in the close season will be priced out of our range.
To let Vaughan go out on loan with no quality replacement beggars belief IMO, was absolute folly and frustrates the hell out of me.
The next month will define our season for sure, we have Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Paul Lambert's Villa. We will do well to get a point out of that lot if you ask me and anyone who really thinks different must be 'two bob short of a ten bob note' !
Yes, I'm ranting a bit but it's only because I love my club and am so disappointed that we never went that extra mile close season because with two year's PL money, parachute payments and no doubt wage reductions if relegated we would have been fine. <ok>

Apologies Captain if I perhaps came across a little rash, particularly as its the first time we've come across one another. I'm usually a nice guy, no really, I usually am, but I honestly could not possibly disagree with you anymore than I do and actually find your opinion on this not only wrong, but also potentially dangerous and poisonous and I wanted to get that across as best as I could in as few syllables as possibly.

And if you read again I was actually "politely" suggesting that you do one, regardless how it came across ;)

This is of course all nothing more than my opinion, which I accept could well be wrong, but as with most things I write I personally think it happens to be spot on <ok>

definitely wasn't £2m. equally, it wasn't enough that meant it stopped us buying a striker.

simply put, people saying we should have bought a new striker need to let us all know where the money would come from to buy this mythical footballer, cos apart from CMS, who i'm told was close to joining on deadline day but the deal fell through for reasons unknown to me, there was not one centre forward who we could have brought in who would have definitely made a difference. our weaknesses were in defence and midfield - both positions have been substantially improved. the area we were strongest in was up front. is it really that unreasonable to think that a strike force who between just two of them netted 25 league goals last year would not continue to score goals? some had doubts including myself as to whether they'd match that achievement but there are still plenty of goals in our team and we've added them in midfield from snodgrass and butterfield (hopefully).

some fans are way, way too quick to get into 'panic station' mode these days. in fact, its quite embarrassing.

Just suck it up, man up and come up with solutions that are rational and possible in the here and now.

We have a good squad, let's talk about how we utilise that

Agreed beef! <ok> The only way we are going to improve is to do so in training, which the squad are aleeady doing. Sacking managers and signing new players is not cost effective and is not good for continuity.

i think you'll find most of us are fairly rational and realistic, in that we know we are in for a struggle this season, but the bigger picture is we are in good shape both on the pitch (the best squad we've had in years) and off the pitch with the TV money clearing our debts.
Long way to go yet on the pitch mind and we've a harder start on paper than some of the other teams who could struggle (swansea, qpr, wigan spring to mind)
