today was quite good i thought. positives........ clean sheet. good defensive display. kenneth looking good and will only improve and deserved his man of the match. looked better without virgo and paterson. hammer impressed and i just hope he keeps running at players as he is fast. even anyinsah showed promise. thought our attacking threat went a bit though when he left the field. we were far the better team. we had more shots on target than they had full stop. we looked the team who was 4th not them. if we can keep that up then no worries. so much improvement on all previous home games in my opinion. negatives......... struggling in final 3rd. thought clarkson looked poor and very low on confidence. really hope he aint the next akinde tough game up next. hope we can keep building on this 2 match unbeaten run and good performances and get our 1st win.
Agree - we look far more solid with Kenneth and Parkes in central defence and our overall play was good. However, those 2 new strikers can't come soon enough. The Hammer is beating players and putting crosses in but there's no-one getting on the end of them. I think Clarkson will get much better with a decent strike partner. Things are definitely looking up.
Agree with your summary cjs.....I'd add that.... Etheridge impressed with the little that he had to do; and I liked how he got rid of the ball quickly to keep the momentum going, often throwing the ball to the left or right And I eat humble pie about Kenneth, whom I'd previously thought was a double dose of Ian Dowie! He was impressive and I liked how, in the dying moments, he seemed to be calming Lee Brown down when he got involved 'head-to-head' with an opponent. Definitely captain material.
I have not been a Gill fan but I thought he played a captains game yesterday full of energy good incisive passing and link play encorouged the team to get forward, ran Kenneth close for MOM. Kenneth I have always said will be the next captain and Parkes looked selve assured with him around also when Kenneth made a mistake he was there to clean up.Cannot wait for Woodards to return in defence we will be difficult to beat. Clarkson is getting better however his passing was slightly behind the player (good vision though)he should have scored especially the one in front of goal all the time in the world to slot it home, although to be fair there goalkeeper made some excellent shot stops. Fleetwood were industrious but no threat and left plenty of room in midfield that other better teams will not give us. Second half we were really up for it Mcghee pressed all the buttons at half time as we were poor in the first half ,what we would not give for a Rammell up front as would have been more than 2 up early doors. Richards looked subdued when he came on and Lund disintersted is Anyinsah fit? Other than picking up three points feel that if we pick up a couple of decent strikers and a midfielder not ones that are unfit and just using us for getting match fit then we have goals in us. COR
'Richards looked subdued when he came on' I'm not too sure about MM's handling of Richards. He has talked about him in positive terms; and the 'win' at Wycombe was down to two excellent strikes by Eliot. Then MM starts to pick holes in him and according to the Post last week was (again) criticising his consistency. Saturday apart Richards for me has often been one of our better players. I don't think that he knows where he stands with the manager.
Yes I did you dribbling butt monkey! To be fair, it was only my second game this season, but our performance was 100% better than my first game, against Oxford. As I say, things are looking up!
Did your chauffeur drive you to the ground or to the pub that is where we middle class people have a pint, not a sherry
No, the pilot landed my helicopter on the pitch - I'd flown straight from my chateau in Champagne after sampling this year's premier cru. What is this 'pint' you speak of?
