These daft assumptions about AVB are becoming so tiring. People treat him like he's an utter idiot with the managerial ability at the same level as Tony Adams and the arrogance of Mourinho. Really though he's got our side playing good football now the Modric saga's over and we've got our proper squad together but he still has to answer questions about whether he can bring us consistency and really improve us. The criticisms are wide of the mark though and at best way too early.

He's clearly a decent manager but seems an incredibly arrogant man. Rare that I agree with Andy Jacobs on Talksport but he's not wrong when he says Boas wants it to all be about him.

Nonsense, it's as much of a misconception of him as there was with Andy Murray. Just because they don't fawn over the media they're perceived as arrogant and angry. Every Spurs player that's spoken about him has said how he's good fun, his press conferences have been the opposite of attention seeking and the portrayal of arrogance has been undermined by him going back on his decision that Huddlestone was surplus, switching from his favoured tactics and defelecting criticism of players when we played poorly. Everyone's view of AVB has been tainted by a tough time at Chelsea where their players attempted to deflect blame from themselves by putting everything at AVB's feet. Perpetuating myths about his inflexibility, poor man management and arrogance with flimsy evidence and outright lies, the media backpeddling is starting and will continue until they're carrying AVB out on their shoulders, if the performances continue of course.

Totally agree with YV's analysis on the anti AVB mob and how they all latch onto hearsays.

I bet Watford_R has not watched one AVB interview or seen one interview with a Spurs player this year.

Interesting there's no team news AFAIK, I wonder if there's any significance to that?

I so hope Ade and Lloris play tomorrow.

Naughton and Ade are both doubts, the latter is supposed to be having a late fitness test but I think Naughton will start, they were just showing a bit of precaution after he was crunched in the last minute against Lazio.

Did Adebayor do any pre season training? It seems he wasn't too well prepared for his late transfer window move and hasn't done much since. Not too impressive.

He was training with the City youth team, I think. There also could well have been periods of days where he was in negotiations and not training as the deal looked to have been sewn up at least twice in the summer before he actually signed. Shame but Defoe's doing well so it could be worse.

Cheers for info YV, still no official team news though, I wonder why?

Not sure how Andy Murray got into this - problems with him are mainly quite different

Why do people call AvB arrogant?

In his first press conference as Chelsea manager they asked if he was a special one like Jose and he said no and thought of himself as the team one.

Naughton out from something that the ref didn't even deem a foul. <doh>

Friedel, Walker, Gallas, Vertonghen, Bale, Sandro, Dembele, Sigurdsson, Dempsey, Lennon, Defoe.

Very, very attacking line-up.

hmmm, this could see the return of the Bale we loved to watch, with chants of "bale bale bale" as he storms down the left, yet slightly concerned as he isn't great at defending, but yeah its very attacking, tons of creativity in the side.

Would have preferred to have seen Caulker come into the back four and move Verts to LB, but I guess against a depleted QPR at home, Bale should not get too pressured there.

Famous last words?

Anyway - I don't rate Bale at LB - even less so these days with his attitude towards shifting his position into the centre at will and without communicating to his team-mates.

My 2-1 win prediction may have been somewhat short sighted now.
