Bogus! ???...Au contraire Mr. Spurf!

Chelsea - Ancellotti did their first double not JM, plus I'm not suggesting winning the league, only CL Qual.

The goons and uniteds managerial position does help agreed, but they still dealt with team overhauls without dropping too much.

And had the Chavs not got CL by default, or the goons with one man show RVP, I can't see their fans being accepting of less...unlike the Scousers whose predicament you conveniently chose not to comment on!

Bogus!...<laugh>

New Management; Recently added players; State of the art tactics; Fresh grass = 'Transition (tranformation) Period' Notso., which ever way you slice it Notso this is true.

How long that transition periods should be, given our circumstances (two games; six months or even a full season) is surely the debatable issue here IMHO. :emoticon-0107-sweat.

Don't forget to call his argument BOGUS Bajan. <ok>

You are both more than entitled to ignore the fact other clubs have had a far more positive approach having had similar issues. You're also more than welcome to regard my view as bogus, seems only fair as I regard yours as I would a hankerchief full of bogies! :)

I am all for a positive approach, I see you are now trying to claim the high ground. <laugh> So my argument is consigned to the bin marked bogies, ok! You can continue to ignore the realities and adopt a Holte like position, your choice, but boguososity wins nowt! <ok>

Not really Spurf, I'm not doing anything now, that I haven't said from the off, so suddenly claiming high ground now isn't right. Neither did I realise we were arguing. My only point in all of this, is that other clubs, have had similar instances, United and L'Arse have not had managerial change, but I don't want to separate them just because of that, both have totally rebuilt sides more than once, without being accepting of dropping out of contention. Chelsea have had numerous managerial upheavals, and followed up with trophy/ies. So why should Spurs be acpeting of finishing 6th, we haven't for a few yrs. As I have stated Liverpool to me are an example of such an attiude, just my opinion. <ok>

Because 6th for us is the same level drop experienced by the other clubs you mention from their relative positions. Anyway I don't think we should 'accept' a drop of any kind I am just saying that we should not be surprised if we did and provided we are in other ways moving forward i.e. competing in the cups, then we should not have too much to complain about in AVB's first season.

Of course it's a bloody argument that's what we are here for isn't it <laugh> or if you prefer a discussion. <ok>

Its your point of 'level of drop' that is wrong Spurf, I can only use Chelsea really as the example, who more than once have changed manager, players, and obviously tactics to suit those changes.

Vialli replaced Gullitt, his first season netted the League Cup and the Cup Winners Cup.
Ranieri replaced Vialli. FA cup.
JM replaced Vialli and we all know what happened next in 04/05!
Hiddink replaced Grant, another FA Cup.
Carlo Ancellotti, League and FA Cup double.

Between 04 and 2011 only once did they finish 3rd, late nineties to 04 saw them consistantly 4th/5th.

I think this dispels any idea that such changes should be detrimental to the following season.

Now bloody well agree with me you argumentative sod! <laugh>

<ok>

If you include an 'as long as you spend billions on your squad' clause, then I'd agree with you, Notso!

Yep PNP is right so it's BOGUS because we don't have the same level of funding and don't bring pre Abramovich days in to it either.

Dropping from first to 4th is = to us dropping 4th to 7th <yikes> That's 3 places.

Agree now! <laugh>

Err!...that didn't happen...ever....and I never said it did, I clearly said they 'maintained' their 4th/5th league finishes then...not 6th. You've pulled out another great big gritty bogey! :D

They finished 6th in both 2000/01 and 01/02, Notso.

I think we are close to a consensus. Top 6 is acceptable, lower is underachievement, but 4 or 5 is where this squad should finish. So whereas 5 would have been a step back with Harry, 5 with AVB will be ok provided we see the signs through the season that we are improving, then next season we expect more than we could have expected with Harry. Plus a cup win would be considered an acceptable if not even welcome improvement.

Can we all more or less agree with that?

So apart from notsosmartspur can we agree on this?
