with johnson out for the season is there any free agents worth taking a punt on? and for the sake of the argument we did sign someone could they then replace aj in the squad or do we need to have a space free?
Ink - I thought the lists were now closed so not possible to substitute any over 21's until Jan '13 now (other than emergency loan for keepers??) Might be able to something with under 21's but not sure, I'm no expert on the myriad rules of the FA Anyway we have Mackie, Hogan and Adel to play up front so its not all grim news
No i looked this up yesterday. You can only sigh free players if you do not have 25 contacted players to name in your 25 squad. But if you have 25 contacted you have to name a 25 man squad and you can not add to that squad untill January, this includes free sighings.
Most free agents that are still floating around are floating around for a reason........not good enough!
Transfer windows should be abolished; what's wrong with the free market 24/7? Clubs should be allowed to buy/sell who they want whenever they want. There are too many silly restrictive rules off the pitch.
What about bringing in one of the lads from the youth team? There wouldn't be any cost involved and it wouldn't count as part of our 22. Conor Hubble scored a hattrick the other day...
Yep We've plenty of attacking midfield options already, but young Frankie Sutherland would be my choice
Not quite sure what you mean by this Traveller... Are you saying that you are Emile Heskey?? Or perhaps you're saying that you are in fact his sister Emille? Please clarify.
The fact of the matter is DJ Campbell should've been in the squad to begin with! However both Hoilett and Taarabt can play as a second front man.Unfortunately under Hughes i think we will play a lone striker in many games, especially away.
Cisse, Zamora, Mackie, Hoilett and Adel should have enough about them to fill in. If AJ is out all season then it isn't exactly a great leap of the immagination for Sparky to look for cover in the January window. Until then I think we should do ok as long as there are no other long term injuries. My worry is that Mackie, Cisse and Zamora have all had serious leg injuries and could be prone to knocks and further problems. Fingers crossed they all stay fit.
I'll say again that Ephraim can play up front, the lads a natural finisher as evidenced away at the Blades and Donny in our promotion season. Don't know why we're getting our knickers in a twist over it, Adel, Hoilett, Mackie, Hogan and I suspect even Granero can go up front. Its only til Jan when reinforcements can be purchased
