We have a no sense no integrity bigtime debate as to whether or not Ferdinand should shake hands with Terry so lets be clear:

Terry has admitted using low life verbals against Ferdinand.

It would not normally matter but let me state for the record that I am a white working class north Londoner

Under the same circumstance we each have to decide how we would react, me? no way would the hands meet at least not in friendship

This is not a Chelsea fans V any other group of fans but in simple terms Terry is a proven (from his own comments) low life

I have to agree. It's not just that particular incident. Terry has displayed on more than one occasion that he's an all round miserable excuse for a human being. He should be totally ashamed of himself., but then self-centred, arrogant tosspots, like him, rarely are.
 
The other thing is you just don't where Terry's hand has been before the game, if you recognise the smell its a long wait till HT to phone home!

No he has not. He has admitted to repeating something said to him by Ferdinand. If you can't get the basics right I suggest you don't talk about a topic <ok>
 
You're not naive enough to believe that bullshit.

Hard to argue with the words of the judge really, even if Cole's claims did clear him in court.

I don't really care if they shake hands, though.
If Ferdinand doesn't want to, then I'm sure nobody will be that surprised and I doubt Terry or Cole will be that offended.

For something to be repeated it has to have been said before. Ferdinand said nothing of the sort. It was out and out racial abuse and only Chelsea fans give Terry's version of events any credibility. The FA verdict will confirm this.
 
For me, the OP has summed up the majority of people's views on the subject. They are misled and blinded by their own hatred for Terry to view things objectively. I am aware that there are a lot of Chelsea fans with the same kind of delusion just because Terry is our captain aswell so don't jump down my throat just yet. Terry is an idiot/twat/****er whatever you want to call him, a true rogue of a man and someone I wouldn't socialise with personally and I think most level headed people would agree with that, but a racist??? Open your eyes, he has been best mates with Rio throughout his entire career up until this even, best mates with Ashley Cole and various other black team mates, why at age 31 after a career of mixing with people from all over the world during his career would he make a comment like that with intent to insult now?

Secondly, I could not give a **** what the FA say, never have never will. They're spineless bastards. So them charging him with anything won't make one iota of difference to what the judge did - which is what really matters.

By his own admission, he was reacting to a comment from Ferdinand about him "shagging Bridge's missus", so perhaps he hit a nerve?

There's no doubt about what he said and there's no evidence to suggest that Ferdinand used the phrase that Terry claimed to be repeating, with insults thrown in either side.
Rio's little brother doesn't have any reason to lie and I doubt that he'd have been so calm if he had thought that your captain had racially abused him at the time.

Do you doubt that Suarez made equally ill thought out comments to Evra?
He's a more well traveled player than Terry, exposed to a wider variety of cultures, colours and creeds, yet he still appears to have made the same mistake.
 
I cannot believe that Anton Ferdinand could have faked the outrage that he displayed at what Terry said. Or that he could have kept the pretence up for so long. He has obviously given his brother the complete story of what occurred, hence his now frosty relations with both Terry & Cole.
Therefore, there is little doubt in my mind that Terry uttered the alleged offending words. I do not believe his story about repeating what Ferdinand said for one second.
If he is not a racist, then he should have known better than to say something like that. I tend to agree with PNP's point about him lashing out verbally at Ferdinand, who had probably taunted him about shagging his best mates girl. But to bring race and colour into it is going way too far.
In short, Mr Terry, if you're not a racist, then you're doing a fine impression of one.

He could not have been more racially offensive to Ferdinand if he had come out onto the field of play in full black-and-white minstrel make-up and clothes, and singing "oh, de camptown ladies sing dis song, de-doo-dah!" in Ferdinand's face.
 
The fact of the matter is anything said about it is subjective. We do not know for a fact what was said, we can all take positions and side but that's it.

I see NowSuffering's point but my counter argument to that is I don't believe for a second if Ashley Cole thought JT had abused Anton he would jeopardise his Long term friendship with the entire Ferdinand family to defend a man who racially abused another of the same ethnic origin as him.

Fundamentally it comes down to who you believe, it's clear if you look at the subjective evidence it doesn't look good for Terry, but if you apply common sense it's easy to see how the whole thing could have been misinterpreted.

We will never really know, just like we will never really know about OJ, we can only really guess but I'd much rather just move on. If Anton refuses to shake JT's hand I don't have a problem with that, but to not shake Cole's hand says more about him than anyone else. The fact Fabio and Park (formerly of Man Utd) refused to shake Terry's hand when neither were at QPR when the incident occurred suggests to me Rio is pulling the strings. The incident is between Terry and Anton, nobody else.

I'm not prepared to judge Terry simply because I don't know him, same with any other player. I hate Rio and think he's a self pompous prick but he might be different outside of work.
 
For me, the only possible point of debate about this matter, is whether you believe Terry's story about only repeating Ferdinand's words. I was watching that game. It was perfectly clear to me, along with, I'm sure, millions of others, exactly what Terry said. You didn't have to be an expert lip reader to get it. So, the only possible argument is, do you believe Terry's story, or not. I personally do not.
