Only us dinosaurs on here will remember him but I just heard the sad news about Jimmy Andrews. He was the manager when I first started going to Ninian. Can still remember the '76 promotion...ok, just about remember. RIP Jimmy http://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10335~2917883,00.html
RIP I think I speak for the whole of this board when i send my condolences to his family and al who were close to him
I feel truly saddened by the news of Jimmy's passing but it got my old grey matter reminiscing about the good old days and the likes of Evans and Alston etc. Thank you Jimmy for the memories His name is Jimmy Andrews, he's the leader of the blues and when we go to Ninian Park, we never ever lose. So take us to division one cos that's where we belong, and when you see the boys in blue you'll know we can't go wrong lalalala, lala, lalala. Think that was the words. Gone but not forgotten.
I will always remember Jimmy Andrews on away games would come to the away end and offer his grandstand tickets to the older fans. He done it quite a few times that I can remember. Also he was the city manager when I used to take the wifes cousin and uncle down to Newport (if I remember it was the steelworks pitch) to train for CCFC, he took the cash and went to Man U and was then soon lost to football. Jimmy would always come and have a chat to the kids parents etc. In his time I didn't miss a game home or away. ITIWRAN. I remember singing that song, thought we would rule the world in those days. RIP a true gentleman.
The first manager I remember and the man who brought us the best player you've never heard of. Never a dull moment during his reign. RIP.
Yes RIP Jimmy. I am sure he took over from Frank O'Farrell, remember those days well as a teenager jumping up and down on the creaky wooden planks in the Grangend. I am sure it was Jimmy in charge when we played Hereford mid week in front of a crowd of almost 40,000, great memories.
Good to see that the club appear to be looking to pay tribute to Jimmy at the next home game. Apparently the sad news of Jimmy's death came too late for the club to pay respect at the Leeds game. The tribute is hoped to include family members and former players.
