I'll try to be positive...for the moment. I really hope we get Moutinho in January. I have the feeling that then, and only then, will Spurs be moving forward. But, hey, maybe not. The level of talent is about what it was last year. Much of it is new, along with the manager, so we can't expect to keep pace in the early going. (Not that that should be too hard. All AVB needs to do to be one point behind last year's team after twelve games is win the next nine in a row.) But I don't see why transitioning has to mean forgetting about a CL spot. Arsenal and Newcastle have got problems and worries of their own, and I don't see why a good plan and a good effort couldn't see us finishing above both. Gimme an A, Gimme a V, Gimme a B! What's it spell? Hell if I know, I'm American.
Evening/morning RWAEB I think it's hard to compare the strength of last season's squad to this one in terms of quality. We definitely have more strength in depth, albeit with the same weaknesses at left back and up front but the quality will take awhile to tell. Modric, VDV and Ledley left some big shoes to fill and whilst Sigurdsson, Lloris, Dembele, Dempsey and Vertonghen could all be great for us they could also fall short. I think we can count on experience Premier League players like Dembele and Dempsey to do well but even they can be difficult to gauge as to just how well. There are plenty of good players who haven't made the grade when playing at a higher level before.
Top of the, erm, evening to you as well, YV. Offhand it seems hard to believe this year's team will do as well as last year's. Even if quality has has remained roughly comparable, losing our two most creative players, as well as the defensive captain, would not seem to bode well. The big unknown factor remains AVB. Looking at the glass half full, I'd say there's no reason he couldn't forge this team into quite a good one fairly quickly...you have to wonder about the fit between players and manager though. Maybe you or someone else can fill me in on what to expect from AVB with this team.
Lloris is already sabre rattling and there's been a bit of wind between AVB and Levy,I'm a touch concerned. I await the Reading result with anticipation of a 1-2 win and if so we will start to move forward.
Spurlock, haven't you been reading? Lloris wants clear the air talks already about his future. That's all I know. I hope you don't think I'm female to be chatted up Dona.
try it and tell them you like it with some fava beans and nice chianti frfrfrfrfrfrfrfrfrfrfrfrfrfrfrfr shluuuuuuurp!
no Thor i know your not a girlie..ida been onto you like a...anyway i do believe that is all paper talk trying to disturb our manager..there is a thread which has lived a life and died a death already, with regards it.
But YV what would you expect him to say? Mourinho is a divisive character but nobody can say he's vindictive. Him criticising AVB is as likely as Glenn Hoddle or Ossie Ardiles coming out and criticising Gareth Bale
Mmmmm....I quite like me balls being attached to my body and being unkicked so I think I'll avoid saying that to any women...the mrs tends to be a bit possessive
