Off those on the very fringes and out on loan who would you like to see have a return to form, a return to their peak or fulfill their potential and make an impact?

    David Bentley
    Carlo Cudicini
    Michael Dawson
    Yago Falque
    Heurelho Gomes
    Tom Huddlestone
    Jermaine Jenas
    Kyle Naughton
    Ceballos
    Danny Rose

Who of the above (and others that I may have missed) would be most valuable to the team and the way it is now shaping up to play if they were at or near their peak? For me I would like Huddlestone back and fit and pinging passes around in midfield.

If David Bentley was capable of reproducing the form he showed at Blackburn then I would take him, as he was superb in that season before we signed him, with cruz up top, he was whipping in great crosses, showing superb technical ability and scored some crackers.

But, clearly that season was a one off and not a measure of his actual sustained ability at this level.

It might be handy for Bentley to do something in Russia to make himself saleable.

On a more positive not Huddlestone still has unfulfilled potential that would be good to see come to fruition.

What is Carlo doing there, you got long term plans for him at 39?? You're not Harry by any chance? :D

It has to be either Hudd, or Gomes. Both have all the physical attributes to be a success. It's all down to temperament. Both have failings that would have to be overcome in that department.

    Bentley for me.

He was a very good player at Blackburn and was even considered the next David Beckham by many at some point.

The Bentley of Blackburn was a player and a half so if he could ever come back to the club with that form we'd have an amazing battle for the RM/ RW position.

Jenas has shown (mainly against Arsenal) that when he turns on the style, he's actually really f*cking good!

So to have them two at their peaks would be great for the squad.

Dawson and Huddlestone just need time on the pitch, we know they're good/ great players, they haven't lost any ability, it's just AVB's selections that have cost them.

Now : Hudd to return to 2009/10 vintage.

    Future :

Luongo to become our next Gazza.
Carroll +/- Pritchard to become our next Modric.

How is it AvB's fault that both have spent ages injured? He's only been manager for 3 league games.

When on earth did I mention that AVB was to blame for their injuries?!

The whole thread is about who we'd like to see regain form and make an impact, I stated Dawson and Huddlestone aren't out of form, they've just not been selected.

Ceballos, mainly because Barca would have to pay through the nose to get him back a few years down the line...

Speaking of Ceballos, does anyone else remember when he was being touted as the biggest talent in football when he was 12/13? There's a video on youtube where he trains at the Nou Camp with Ronaldinho and does some fancy skills, amazing how nowadays, I'm pretty sure no one except Spurs fans will know his name.

I'd like to know what Original Spurcat thinks of him, he knows most about the youngsters, from what I read, Ceballos is usually involved in either the setting up or scoring of goals so I don't think he's done too badly since he joined us last year. Only seen him play for 15 minutes vs Utd Reserves, made a few nice touches but you can't judge on that.

We should give him a run in carling cup games just to see how he reacts, as how often do we see players look great in youth/reserve but crap in the real thing (and vice versa)!

Also Pique was with man utd for four years, played 12 games and now he is one of the worlds best centre backs so there is hope yet!

"are we ever going to see Ceballos make it?"

Did not shine in the games I saw him.
Especially when compared to Luongo and Pritchard also playing.

But just as two examples, Lee Barnard & Willian Korsten used to shine in reserve football but crap in 1st team football.

Anthony Gardener was once considered to be the next great defender based on his youth performance but was a clown in reality!

Thats why I like to see players that have shown some ability given some sort of chance either in cup games or sent out on loan as then you really get a proper idea of if they are going to make it.

Absolutely Boss, I think Livermore is a prime example in terms of shining when playing for the first team. Whenever he went out on loan, he was always used sparingly and he was never a name mentioned when speaking of youth/ reserve prospects, yet coming in to the first team picture, he's looked a seasoned pro at times, I don't rate him as our best CM don't get me wrong but he's proved very useful since his break through. Great that he's a local lad as well, Enfield born.

I like Livermore for all the obvious reasons..he loves Spurs.. But I do not think he is a top 4 team midfielder.
