I know trouble has gone hand in hand with our Craig for a number of years now, but I don't remember any problems with him when he first broke onto the scene with us! Selective memory? I don't think so! Now he's suffering because of the unexpected death of his good friend Gary Speed, which took us all by surprise, also it appears to have damaged his marriage as well! Think what you like of our Craig, but the man is an extremely talented footballer! I hope things turn round for you soon Craig! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-19536060
I agree Dave and certainly do not recall any particular problems with us. Since then though he has become somehing of a liabiliy and very hot-headed.
He appears to always be looking for something on the pitch. He is definitely a lost soul. Definitely in the Gazza classification.
A player who with the right Manager, could have been really excellent. 9 or 10 different clubs since he left us in 2000,too many. One would think now that he will finish his career at Cardiff.
It's amazing that he's managed to play at such a high level for so long even though he has no neck. Phenomenal!!
As far as i'm aware Bellamy has never bad-mouthed Norwich and even his biggest critics could not accuse him of not giving 100% when he played for us. He is a quality player who has never had the temprement to kick on and fullfill his potenetial as he never seems able to settle at a club. I hope he ends his career happily at Cardiff and wish him well.
Too young to remember him at Norwich but when reading about him in the media they seem to forget his time at Norwich. So much so that it was a whole before I discovered he used to play for Norwich. Apparently I saw him play for Norwich when I was really young but I can't remember! Great player on his day though! Never really seen him as a bad guy. Sad to hear about him struggling so much with Speeds death.
Sorry guys I have to disagree with original post. Our family are close to Tim Sheppards (our ex physio of 20 odd years) and he said that Bellamy was one of the rudest, most arrogant prats he had ever met. He also said he had never heard anyone speak to their parents the way he did (ie all f-ing and blinding). Tim is a gentleman and certainly not a liar so to me Bellers has always been trouble, even if he is a good player.
I did hear that when he was with us, that he was shut in the loo on the coach for some away games, because he got on the player's tits so much. Not sure how much truth there is in that. Like i said, it was just something I heard.
I was pretty young when he played but I do remember it, and fondly. Had the same impact as Huckerby did, you knew when he picked up the ball that something could happen. Hell, with Hucks he could be defending near our own corner flag and you couldn't help but feel he may take on the opposing team and score from here...I digress. I do remember him having the odd spat though, he was very arrogant and at 17/18 thought he should be in the starting line up and on the same amount of money as the experienced lads. But to be good, you have to have that arrogance.
The famous quote was when he claimed to be better than Juninho, who was having the season of his life and possibly(?) won Player of the Year that year. Confidence has never been an issue with Craig, that's for certain. Cracking player who has also raised a ****load of money for some children's charity in Africa I believe. Yes he comes with baggage, and certainly isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I've always liked him personally
In the interviews I've seen with him he's always spoken fondly of his time here. In fact when he was sent on loan by man city he said he would only play for Cardiff or us.
Was a great player for us but don't think he ever reached the heights we all thought he would, hope he sorts his life out and gets things back on track find it incredible this is in press feel for him should have friends around him to help with such a situation is this the true price of fame?
I loved watching Bellamy Play for us. I saw a lot of the season he broke into the team and started ripping defenses apart. I have been amazed he hasn't been a regular for a top 6 Premiership side from when he left us to now. I love his heart, his passion, his work rate, his speed and flair. I was devastated when he left and have kept an eye on him since. It was horrible reading the story and I really hope he is happy playing for his home town club. I wouldn't be surprised if he returned to the premiership with Cardiff, that would be a lovely story for him. Come on Malky! Neil
