Ford Heath; the middle of nowhere
The Premiership giants Snotts await us this weekend then in what must be the Cup. Just a slight typographical mistake away from possessing a rather rude name, they also have Lee Hughes on their payroll. Add to that plenty of arrogant, obnoxious fans who were so sure of their impeding glories with all that cash that attracted Sol Campbell and Sven Goran-Eriksson, and you get a nice mix of reasons why they can be properly disliked this weekend. Not just in the usual way whenever Shrewsbury play and the other team are always the enemy - there are genuine reasons not to like County.

County are amongst the early season pace-setters, and that is clearly pretty meaningful with the season drawing to its conclusion in just a few days. Their quest to secure a top-6 finish and guaranteed Europa League football along with it is going to be an arduous one, but with talented players such as the ex-Hereford man Yoann Arquin (he initially failed his medical after straining his back carrying Hairyfurd for the last year) amongst their ranks, surely a push for the premiership title cannot be far away?

Anyway, that's enough waffle from me. I wouldn't want to belittle County and their meteoric rise to the Premiership in just three years, so I'll stop ranting. Hopefully us lowly Shrews can avoid a complete obliteration in this match, but we have to remember that getting knocked out of the Cup isn't the end of the world. Although they lost at home to Walsall, so maybe their is hope that a premiership giantkilling could be on the cards.

Did you know... Notts County can attract stellar premier league players like Sol Campbell now they're in the premiership.
Lenny's Grandison fact: Ghosts sit around the campfire and tell Grandison stories.
What the bookies think: Snotts - 1/10; Draw - 10/1; Shrewsbury - 2000000/1

Lenny's Prediction: Notts ****y 8-0 Shrewsbury; Attendance 35,961

Finally, just a quick note to let people know that the next round of the betting league is ready (although most people have already placed their bets) - anyone who hasn't yet joined in but would like to may still do so; you have £150 with which to place your bets for this week.

I am off to see this one on Saturday as it is a fairly short trip from my Leicestershire home. I predict a 2-0 win for Town with Gornell and Wright opening their accounts .
Crowd 7500.

Head to the Vat & Fiddle and don't forget to ... drink some Elsie Mo or Harvest Pale <ok><ale>

Equally buddy, you are free to post on here. Your board seems rather deserted.

Its deserted because Notts fans prefer to post on other sites, and never populated the old 606 in great numbers.

There is one word in your opening post which stands out - waffle.

Enjoy your day at the Lane and steer clear of Hooters - take the advice and sample the excellent Harvest Pale.

Its still early season and I think you have an excellent chance of getting some sort of result. I have respect for Turner, you could not have a better manager at this level.

so onward shrews to county who have encountered a dreek start to the season. in the league, they have lost to lowly walsall 0-1 at home, struggled to beat lowly hartlepool 2-0 at home, and suprisingly beat crewe 2-1 away.

last tuesday they suprised themselves and i suspect scunny by winning there 2-1 in the cup.

their strikers have been on form zoko 2 and arquin 1 plus a red card, also bishop 1.

1 can see the shrews winning 2-0 with both our marv and el tel scoring after gt had applied a large dose of veet up their arses. i understand they will be full of running! attendance 5254. come on you shrews, breath on em, amwythig am byth, floreat salopia!, and how pleasing to note the match ball is to be sponsored by "veet for men" could be a red hot result. aj

i am off to their boards now to stoke up the 2 supporters

You continue to write humorous posts Atcham all of which convey a remarkable sense of total alcoholic intoxication.

Its no wonder you say breathe on 'em.

i am happy that my thread sums up our opponents, and at 16.50 on saturday, i will be interested to see how much breath is left in a county team way out of its depth in 3rd place. i could be wrong, though we have a strike force just itching to score a goalfest. just ensure your goal nettings are tight! er floreat salopia!

aj wishes it to be known that not a drop has passed his lips since yesterday lunchtime when he imbibed on a half bottle of westons vintage cider. 8.2%. bootiful

Come on you blues, wish I was there but will be in sunny Cheltenham finding out how good the real ale and curry houses are!

Have seen a couple of Shrews interviews and have to say they are chipper at the moment!

All the interviews seem to be the same 'If we carry on doing what we're doing etc etc'. Fair dos I suppose, what they lack in originality they gain in consistency!!

Draw or county win for me, but not much between odds for all 3 results at this stage in the season.

For Atcham, we spent a lot of last season in or around play-offs in a tougher league, I think the same this year.
