Hi all, Just a warm-up thread ready for the big two Group 1 races on Saturday, and to kick off discussion today, I want to know: a) The Haydock Sprint Cup: who will win and why? b)Is the Irish Champion Stakes ripe for a shock result? c)It is the St Leger on Saturday week: Is Camelot a rightful 1/3 favourite- will he stay? If he does win, is his season still a little bit flimsy in terms of form? As for some fun multiples: 2.10 Brighton: HIKMA 3/1 Back on turf, back to a mark of 53- has a chance to try to dictate if handling the track. Better handicapped than the rest of the field but obviously Brighton can be a tricky track. However, Mark Johnston has never been afraid of sending a few down there. 7.50 Kempton: LISA'S LEGACY 10/1 (NAP) Is better than we saw at Epsom and we see numerous horses fail to handle that rollercoaster track. Ought to show iprovement at the very least and showed glimpses of ability in maidens amongst some greeness. Experience will have bought her on and Kempton is a reasonably fair track on the AW. 9.20 Kempton SANDBANKS SIZZLER (NB) 13/2 Really shaping well last couple of starts, caught my eye LTO especially and I fancy has the measure of these rivals in the lucky last at Kempton
Alright Toppy A - Ortensia - far superior to the English sprinters imo and was very impressed with her last time out. B - Big fan of St Nicholas Abbey so probably heart ruling my head but I really like his chances on Saturday. Was very impressed with the way he travelled in the Juddmonte. Obviously no match for Frankel. Don't think any of his rivals have a brilliant turn of foot , some people may disagree in regards to Snow Fairy. I Think both her and Nathaniel take plenty of winding up. Daddy Long Legs in there to ensure a strong gallop. C - Price is about right imo. Says everything about the quality of the 3yos that Thought Worthy is the market leader without the fav. Camelot wins as he likes imo. Extra 2f on Good ground no problem. Nothing for me tomorrow
Two I shall be backing at Haydock today so be wise to avoid them. ANGEL GABRIEL 4.45 & ATLANTIC TIGER 5.15
Morning all, Hope your well stick. One for me today: 3:35 Haydock - Willbeme 11/4. Good luck to all with bets today.
a) Ortensia- Coz she is the best horse in the field! b) Nope- Nathaniel all the way c) if the ground is anyway soft it will be harder for him but wil still win- if its as dry as it is now- EAAZZZZEEEE!! Sorry for the blunt answers but
Fancy Talent this evening. An interesting filly by new Approach out of Prowess who belongs to the wonderful Holiingsworth family of Felucca. Talent is a half-sister to the useful Skilful (in the same joint ownership) and her dam is a grand-daughter of the Oaks winner Bireme. Probably won't be much of a price.
And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years. And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings, and i tell ye this, Sticko and Danbo know a thing or 2 and when Glee rides the Angel then glad tidings will befall all who follow Stay Frosty
A) Was on Ortensia lto, can't see why he won't win again. Boring answer sorry, would love to put up a 20/1 shot! B) Does Snow Fairly winning count as a shock? Ground drying up won't suit Nathaniel. C) Yes will win it easy
Haydock Each Way Lucky 15: 2.00 - Diman Waters 7/1 2.30 - Lost in Paris 10/1 3.35 - New Leyf 25/1 (NAP) 4.10 - Rothesay Chancer 14/1 (NB)
Sorry, Dan, am all screwed-up as usual, it was the angel Moroni (not Gabriel) who met one Joseph Smith long long ago in upper New York State, had a chat with Mr.Smith, gave him a bunch of gold tablets, and caused the Mormon Church? Only know this because, as a young man, I boarded with a very nice Mormon family. And, Mormons don't gamble, don't drink alcohol, don't drink coffee or tea, but............certainly do other things, ask Mitt Romney! (P.S. The gold tablets were lost unfortunately, probably stolen by the then underworld?).
Spoke to my dad recently, he's lived over there for a while now, and he said that Romney wont get in... Thing is not everyone is behind Obama either...!!! Celebrity politicians get in and then dont know what the hell to do next... That's why they get involved with wars then back out when they have had enough, just to keep the economy going...
Red: I hope your dad is right. Enough has been said about the Bain company he ran, but decision-making-wise, in a political sense, his record shows that he is one dreadful flipflopper, as pointed-out by John Kerry yesterday? This failing would be bloody dangerous with someone like Putin around, surely? Enough of this, on the horseracing thread, back to form study, nowt today but tomorrow's racing looks great!
