Just need to look at Swansea to see how it's done. De vries was moved on which was slated to begin with by Swansea fans as he had a fantastic championship record. In comes vorm and look what happened. We need to sign someone better than Davis and see how Davis responds. We are the pl, we can't sign players worse than what they already have, and we won't be that's for sure.
How about Chris Kirkland I thnk he is available on a free.......terrible record with injuries I know but if injury free would be a great back up if we could get him on the cheap
I was absolutely speechless when I read that Bialkowski had been released. I could really see him learning a lot under Davis in the Premiership before taking the first team spot himself. He's been a great servant to us, he has been patient and has played well when called upon (Blackpool match? What Blackpool match?). Gutted to see Holmes away too but it's the right move for everybody.
What about Brad Guzan from Villa. Coming up on his prime. Started a number of games over the last couple of seasons. Doubt he'd cost us much per week either. He would be able to push SKD a bit yet learn from him. Having played in the PL it would give us a nice backup if SKD gets hurt.
Bumped Seems to be some strong views out there that Kelvin should no longer be number one and Gazza should start. Is that a widely held view? IMO KD is an outomatic pick and Gazza and Cropper will be given time to develop.
After the showing on Sunday from KD I'd say give Gazza a go, so far KD has saved two pens but I’m so nervous when the opposition are attacking that they are going to score. This could be because of the level of opposition we have faced so far, our defence or KD, but I think we need to give Gazza a go and see how he gets on. It has struck me lately that KD doesn’t jump for balls, he kind of reaches on his tip toes for them and his reactions and agility, minus penalty saves have been appalling to say the least and aren't going to improve at his age.
Craig Gordon is still a free agent and we have space in our squad. Personally I'd offer him at least a one year contract with the option for either party to extend it if he plays a certain number of games.
Adkins will have seen all the keepers. To take over from the incumbent, the newbie would have to be not only very much better but consistently much better. Otherwise he will stick with tried and tested.
Kelvin is good when the ball is coming to him, his distribution lacks. A number are out of play and others are short leaving a poacher to beat our defender to it. Partly that is a communication problem, as well as the defence not looking for the ball. I'm not sure the other two are ready though. I'd like to think maybe NA can get him to distribute better. Every time he has the ball I get nervous. I was hoping for a PL keeper as a back up during the window. At this point KD is the starter I think until January.
