Swansea
Seems that Miku is claiming that he could have joined us (SWEPost) but he wanted to go to a big club. He says that Swansea are similar in size to his previous club, Getafe, and he preferred a bigger club. He has chosen Celtic where he says he will play in front of big crowds and get European football.

Can't argue with those facts. Celtic is a big club who do get large crowds and will play in Europe. With regard to Europe, however, the question is, for how many games? And, yes, Celtic is a big club... in Scotland. But the higher quality football is played in the Premier League with far better teams competing and it has a far higher profile than the SPL will ever achieve.

Seems to me we have had a lucky escape there. If the SPL is the extent of his ambition then good luck to the guy but I doubt he would have thrived with us given that sort of thinking. Not knocking his ability, by the way, he seems a pretty useful footballer. I'm just questioning his judgement in turning down an exciting project in the world's most watched league playing under the legend that is Michael Laudrup. Seems a strange one to me. Perhaps he should have had a word with Ki who left Celtic to join us.

...and Ki was a regular starter. Seems to me the lad knows very little about the SPL and the standard up there. I watched part of one game recently and it was like League 1. My suspicion is that it came down to who he thought would pay the most wages, but Celtic are a much bigger club than us, it's true. So what?

His scoring record isn't that great anyway so maybe that's his level, and he knows it.

Glad we didn't get him anyway - Michu and Miku in the same team. <yikes>

I think what he means is that Celtic offered him more money.

No question that Celtic are a huge club, and qualify for the champions league every year, and now they will win the league for at least the next 5 years. But the quality is not up there, the scottish premier is like championship or league 1 standard. He by the looks of things has no desire to pit himself against the best players in the UK. It's his choice I am not shedding any tears over it

You reckon?

On the flip side , Ki must have been trying to upgrade when he left Celtic .... (whistling )

Life is about making decisions, and this lad decided, for whatever reasons,to join Celtic.
He was never seriously on the radar here,so no loss to us.
Good luck to him.

celtic a big club ???? A big club in scotland maybe but championship standard at best in our system....he chased the money and we dont want anyone like that at our club...

He's either delusional, or in need of educating! The SPL is Championship standard at best, footballers are not the brightest of creatures are they..........<laugh>

We've got enough players to come to terms with already so I don't care that we didn't add yet another new name.

Has been a busy Transfer season, got a job keeping up with it all, and I thought we were getting a smaller squad!..........<ok>

I can't see Celtic's average home attendances holding up either without the Rangers games.

rangers have had 2 home games in the third div so far - 49,000 (world record for a 4th tier div) and 46,000 last week, one cannot say they are not passionate especially after losing 20 odd players, swans would love those attendances
