Krul - 6 Not too much to do (apart from pick the ball out of his net) but did ok catching set pieces
Simmo - 6 He was settling in when he got injured
Colo -7 Did good especially carrying the ball into Vile's half.
Tayls - 6 Seen better from him
Santon - 7 He played like he wanted better from us, good showing
Gael - 8 Came on for Simmo and was my MoTM with his passing tackles and block
Anita - 6 He needs to get used to the pace of the game quickly and I'm sure he will
Cabaye - 6 He needs to get his form back and what a free kick late in the game
Jonas - 6 Worked hard but could of burst forward a bit more today
HBA - 7 all though he was a little wasteful today his cracker earned us a point
Cisse - 5 Can't work with Ba for the life of him
Ba - 6 see above
Obertan - 5 not much time but a couple of runs and no end product
Marveaux - 5 Not much involved today but a decent corner

Agreed. Would love to give obertan a 6 but don't think he had enough time on the pitch to merit it

Agree with all of that.

We were rubbish up until about 5 mins before our goal. I said it on the match day thread and ill say it again, 442 does not work for us, cant understand for the life of me why Pardew can't see it. The 2 Demba's look like they have never met, let alone played a football match together, constantly runinng in the same lines and getting in one anothers way. RICIDULOUS!!!

Hatem I will forgive today for an outstanding goal but was mainly wasteful during the game and very frustrating, but like I say another top drawer goal from him saved our blushes

We lost Simpson as well to what looks like a hamstring injury so he will probably be out for a few weeks. One of the positives that came out of that was Anita looked reasonably solid back there, but we do only have Perch as backup to the FB positions now before we're down to Tav's and Fergie.

Only major plus today was Bigi looks like a cracking little player, had some sloppy passes but mostly switched play well and a great block to deny an almost certain goal. Like you say Hereward MOTM!!!

I thought Santon was immense today. Easily the best I've seen him play in a toon shirt. Nobody got past him and he intercepted practically everything. Jonas on the other hand was absolutely dire for most of the game. He has very little flair, bar one moment on the edge of the box, and his pace just seems to have gone. He wins us free kicks, but with the way our set piece delivery was today, it's pointless, barring Cabayes edge of box free kicks. Much much rather see Marv there. Bigi was solid, gave the ball away a few too many times to begin with but got better as it went on.
Krul spilled the ball a few times, he needs to work on that, he's done it a few too many times recently. Anita looked better at RB, crossing was decent with his right boot. Cabaye didn't get enough of the game. I think he's considerably better with Cheik. Ba and Cisse were pretty poor, though Cisse should've scored a header in the first half, they're gearing up I think.

Can anyone confirm, after Simmo's injury Pards had the right footed Santon on the left and the left footed Anita on the right?

Only a child on his fifa video game would attempt that so I thought I was merely imagining a Premier League manager tried that.

That is correct, and personally, I think it's because the defensively minded Jonas was ahead of the attack minded Santon on the left, with the defensive Anita behind the attacking HBA. Santon was immense before Simmo went off, so changing his position may not have worked. Tbh, Anita looked very very good at RB too.

Please tell me how some of you justify giving Colo a better rating than Saylor? Saylor wasn't great today, but he didn't do anything wrong. Colo made sloppy errors, and that one that almost cost us a goal was ****ing pathetic.

Anita actually did well at RB. Bigi grew into the game and became excellent. Simmo was playing well till injured. Strikers lost for form, touch and positional play. Sorry but i have seen Shola slated for better performances than these two are putting in at the moment apart from Ba's one bit of magic v Spurs. Defence awful at times including for goal. Ben Arfa easily MOM, again.
Also, corners abysmal and too many long balls being played. Is Pardew trying to show Ashley that he should have bought Carroll lol

Sorry like, but some of those scores are plain wrong. Didn't-even-see-the-match-wrong. The correct scores:

Krul - 6
Simmo - n/a
Colo - 5
Taylor - 7
Santon - 8
Gael - 8
Anita - 7.5 (6.5/7 for DMC, 8 for RB)
Cabaye - 4
Jonas - 6.5
HBA - 7
Cisse - 4.5
Ba - 3

Ba 3 is unfair. He and Cisse certainly aren't firing, but he worked hardto get to a lot of high hopeful punts upfield and was no ****ter than the team generally. 5 for him, and for Cisse

Cisse - 5 Can't work with Ba for the life of him
Ba - 6 see above

Strongly agree with this. I feel Shola/Ba or Shola/Cisse will be infinitely more effective than Ba/Cisse.

For the same reason I think its a shame we sold Best, as he was equally effective in linking up with Ba or Cisse.

This is becoming clear. It our own version of the "Lampard/Gerrard" dilemma.

I say rotate them in the middle of a 4 - 3 -3. They'll be more effective, and it will be one way of getting through a long season with only two starting strikers

I agree with those ratings to a point. Cabaye could not get more than a 5 for me, he was pretty pathetic. He's just short of fitness. Santon was the pick of the defenders, Bigismalls the midfielders, and Benni the attackers. I know we played 442 but Benni only comes back half the time (I don't mind this as you have to let him have freedom). Some good comments generally but I think Ba and Cisse can work together when they find their level. However I would have to have more forms of rating to truly reflect the game.

Back four as unit - 4 All over the fecking shop, a miracle we only conceded one
Team as a defensive unit 4 See above
