Not trying to be a WUM(therefore not invading Liverpool's thread) but I thought I'd share my take on Liverpool's start to the season.
I see Steven Gerrard as the number 1 problem that Rogers has to solve.
Watching the game yesterday, he looks totally destructive. As the captain you would expect him to lead the team, however he appears to be doing totally the opposite. He is whinging and moaning, particularly to the newer or younger players, he seems to have set himself up to run these guys down whenever they get something wrong. If you look at his body language you can see him shaking his head, throwing his arms down or just looking totally disgusted with those around him.
He has been the king at Anfield for so long, he carries more weight than Rogers does but it appears than instead of leading from the front and supporting his new boss, he has decided to have it his way.
For the sake of moving the team forward and to take control of the situation I feel that Rogers has to bite the bullet and drop Gerrard from the squad. This would be a brave move but I see it as the only way to establish his rule.

I'm not suggesting that Gerrard is not still a decent player but perhaps he is getting to big for his boots at Liverpool and needs to move to somewhere where he will only be one of the big fish in the pond not the biggest.

    Your thoughts guys!

The annoying thing is he will walk into the England side. He is nowhere near the player he was...

I still rate Gerrard, and I'm sure he will regain his form sooner or later..I just hope that it is not against us!

I'ts not that he is not playing well, although he has been a lot better, but it's how disruptive he appears to be and how he seems to be undermining Rogers efforts.

I can't say that I have looked into this, but I believe it was player power which undermined Hodgson, so it doesn't surprise me..

I think there's definitely something in this...

Gerrard has been king dick at Liverpool for years, even with Torres and Suarez there, HE is the midfield general, play comes through him and he distributes it to the forwards. With Rodgers' style of football, no player necessarily has a bigger role, its about keeping the ball moving until an opening appears - this is a different game and Gerrard has gotten comfortable with the way things were, the key will be whether or not he can adapt (and begin to enjoy it) as opposed to pissing and whining 'cause it didn't go the way he wanted it!

Is Cattermole still your captain? If so, how is he on the pitch? Colo tends to be more of a calming influence than a motivator - something we've definitely needed recently. He was also the guy behind the 'Ryan Taylor Over The Wall' jackets that they wore in support of Taylor after he did his cruciate midweek. Obviously its not a jacket you guys will be rushing out to buy, but the thinking of it was that people are in far worse condition/actually sick and so saying "get well soon" was a little insensitive so instead they went with the song the crowd sing - thought that was class!

He does seem to have matured since given this role, but still seems to be the victim of his past reputation, and gets booked for the most innocuous of challenges. For me it is his distribution which lets him down as a player, and I feel that Colback is the best long term option in the central defensive midfield role.

So where does that leave you in terms of captaincy?

Gerrard and Suarez are Liverpools best players by a long way, there's no way they could be dropped unless injured.

Think Stevie G is now living on his reputation. Like carragher Ibelieve he needs putting out to pasture.

Will be gutted if we don't beat them at home. Take good player, but cheating tw*t Suarez out of the equation and they are poor imo.

Rogers has already taken some big decisions regarding the likes of Carragher, Carroll and Adam so if he thinks that Gerrard needs to be dropped he will do it. However if they don't pick up soon he could be gone before he gets the chance to rebuild the team in the way he wants

Imagine the fall out when we beat them!

    MOTD will go into meltdown!

Lawro will not smile (no change there)
    Hansen will blame appalling refereeing
Shearer will refuse to be on the show.

    Lovely
