The comment wasn't aimed at Spurs prospects this season, I am not confident of us matching last years performance. However, I am pleased that Arry left because of his choice of player targets. My comment was aimed at the set up at Liverpool where they have employed a manager with a long term plan but have failed to provide him with the necessary playing staff to cope with the short term requirements. Your problem is compounded by having the Europa League to deal with as a couple of injuries could leave you dangerously short. I don't think any team, including Spurs, is going to get much change at Sunderland, I think MoN has done a good job strengthening their squad whilst ManU with RVP are beginning to look formidable. Chris Hughton did a very long apprenticeship serving as a number 2 under a number of Spurs managers and is doing a fine job at Norwich. Following a poor start they are beginning to gel and by the time you play them they will be well organised and difficult to beat. I think that there is a possibility that you will get nothing from your next three games. How long will it be before your owners decide to press the panic button? Times have changed since SAF took over at ManU. Managers no longer get a 3 year period of grace before the win their first trophy. The same goes for AVB at Tottenham, an improvement must happen relatively quickly or calls for his head will gather momentum. However, in the Spurs situation, were Daniel Levy to get rid of AVB, many Spurs fans will point the finger of blame at Levy rather than AVB because many did not want AVB appointed in the first place. After Santini and Ramos, a third disasterous managerial appointment would reflect very badly on Levy so I expect AVB to get a little more time than the Frenchman and the Spainard.
"Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers says he would not have let Andy Carroll leave if he had known he would be unable to replace him." (Source: BBC Football website) Roy Rodgers was slagging-off Carroll the week before he left to join the Spanners, saying how he was a third-rate striker, who should leave the club if he wanted to play football; and now he's moaning because he doesn't have Carroll to play! I thought Kenny-boy was useless, but Brenda is simply clueless.
Did you see the letter from their owners? Apparently it's all KKK's fault....or is it Rafa's fault.....or Hicks & Gillett....in fact it's any bodies fault but theirs. No stadium,no strikers,**** manager but it has nothing to do with them. I can't wait for their mocumentary.
Shades of Graham Taylor, I think. You can just see Rodgers doing the whole, "Your mate just got me the sack", bit.
To be fair, the Hicks and Gillett/King Kenny regimes wasted an awful lot of money in a quite staggering way, that has to be corrected. The sum they got for Torres has been pissed up the wall.
When they bought Lafferpool they essentially started with a clean slate. What H&G did was no longer relevant to where the club stood that day, essential debt free. THEY hired KKK and Comolli and allowed them to spend so have to take responsibility for it. They have been there 2 year, not 2 months. It's passing the buck imo.
It's always been the livepool way - anything that happens is everybody else's fault and not theirs. If the FA gave a trophy for buck passing there'd be an open top bus parade through Lime Street every season. The funniest thing is their supporters are too myopic or have too short memories to see why everyone's indulging in a Scahdenfreude fest at their expense - when you act like you are the greatest thing since sliced bread and show complete and utter comtempt for everyone around you as the board, managers, players and, most importantly, supporters have done since the 1960s you can't complain when people revel in your failure.
You keep lapping it up lad whilst you slip further down. The more that think like you the longer they'll get away with it and the further you'll fall. They say they want to develop youth and then your youth manager walked too because they gave him no funds. You keep believing though because that means we can laugh harder and longer
That's no excuse - if you follow an organisation you should probably read up on the history. It's a bit like someone supporting the nazi movement and saying "I wasn't alive in the 1930s so I'm not associated with all that carry on". Note - I am not saying LFC is like the SS
If you're referring to Pep Segura I'd love you to prove that. Lapping what up? Have I given any opinion so far on FSG? No, you have assumed so. Your idiocy is shown by your ignorance towards the long term effects of the H&G regime. Educate yourself before you jump on things.
No, I don't think you can extend that allegory, as it suggests that there is a consistent dogma or approach, which certainly exists within Nazism but not exactly within supporting a football club. Certainly it's less extreme. If fans were dicks in the 60s-80s, which I can imagine, then so be it. I can't apologise for it or be held accountable for it. Every club, in every era, will have a section of boasters and, for want of a better word, 'WUMS'. I like to think that I wouldn't be like that - for me Liverpool's success isn't a reason to rub it in peoples' faces - because I know I'll support Liverpool even if we don't win another game, and I expect fans of other clubs to be the same.
