I've seen 3 sack the manager posts on 3 different forum's today, Spurs, Southampton and Leicester. Jesus Christ 3 games and it's started already? I am truely shocked.

Southampton is really bizarre. He has taken them to 2 successive promotions and only lost narrowly to the 2 best teams in the country. They even linked Harry Rednapp with them after the almighty mess he left them in a few years back.
I don't think AVB utilised Spurs' best strength which is their wing play at the weekend and it could take a while before his passing style through the middle comes through. Bit of a waste of the good work Harry put in in my eyes. If they'd had a stronger squad they would have easily finished 3rd and the players seemed to respond to him
More stress than usual this season with the big increase in $ coming up with the new TV deal. I suspect we'll see some owners making earlier panic changes than normal.
Yes, ridiculous and short-sighted and ungrateful. Look where Southampton were a few years ago, on the edge of collapse. These guys are idiots.
I wonder if directors and owners react to the fans or do the fans react to the media or is it a combination.
I don't for one minute think that there would be above a handful of fans who think Adkins ought to be sacked. I belive its fat, bloated. piggy style journos who love to rake it up. They have an agenda for each club and a set of responses whichever way that agenda pans out.
I would bet there were "Hughton under pressure" "in the shadow of Lambert" headlines ready should we have taken a beating at WHL. I response to our terrific performance its the total opposite.
I'm glad I don't buy a newspaper.

i hate to inform you all of this but there was an internet group set up on friday night wanting 'hughton out', based, i can only presume, on the fact we didn't sign a world class centre forward on deadline day.

The thing AVB has done wrong is trying to change the squad too much. Still don't understand why they let Van Der Vaart go because they were screaming for that sort of player on Saturday. Dempsey and Dembele are going to have to hit the ground running.

Agreed!!! What were they expecting, how much money did they think Hughton had to spend, and who the f*** do they think is going to replace him??
We are all allowed our opinions and some are a bit more radical than others, but, to want the manager out after 3 games is sheer lunacy. I'm convinced Hughton will see us to mid table again this season!
We are not alone though Supers. Most, if not all teams have fans that change their minds like the bloody weather. One minute they are signing a world class player the next minute that player is decidedly average or they have a "top" manager who has suddenly become crap! The average fan is a bit fickle at times, to be kind
Can anyone explain to me why people think this is such a big deal (pardon the pun). As I pointed out on a previous thread, the bigger pot of money makes no difference to the importance of surviving in the Premier League. Of course, it is highly desirable to be in the Premier League next season, but at the end of that season three teams will still be relegated, and three from the Championship will get to have a share of the honey pot. And so it will continue. Yes, the teams relegated to the Championship (as long as they have been sensible and not gone mad) will have more resources to back the push for a quick return. But even then, a well run and managed but "poorer" Championship club will still be able to beat the financial odds. As I see it, the longer term effect will be positive, improving the overall standard of the Championship. It is absurd to talk about this new TV deal as if not being at the trough would be the end of the world as we know it.
Simply the gap between Prem and Championship is going to be even greater. It's business as usual for the top teams 'relatively' but for those that can't guarantee avoiding the drop, it's the opportunity cost of not staying up.
the gap will only be bigger between the teams who haven't been promoted or relegated from the premier league recently though. in many ways it'll be status quo - the parachute payments will dwarf clubs who haven't got them, therefore, as long as relegated clubs are sensible, they'll make a swift return. sadly, this will mean it becoming more or less a closed shop with only around 5 or 6 clubs each year ever being in with a chance to get promoted each season. but football is a strange beast - it might not pan out that way!
Parachute payments did not stop teams like us, Swansea and Southampton! The single most important factor is good management. There are countless examples of getting nowhere with plenty of money. As I said, IMO the longer term effect will be a general improvement in the quality of the Championship, but there will always be teams who defy the odds.
doubling parachute payments will make a difference though! as i said above, football is strange, it may not stop certain clubs bucking the trend, but for clubs such as say, barnsley, bristol city or even ipswich, that gap will only widen and they will find it increasingly difficult to get close to the relegated teams
The other variable you have to factor in is wealthy owners. They can give clubs which are not in your "closed shop" a chance to compete. An example right now is Sheffield Wednesday. May not be strong enough to do a Southampton, but on the up.
