Mr AVB we are Tottenham not some lower league park the bus outfit: 1) At home we do not play one man upfront and in particular a man proven not to have the skills to play alone upfront 2) When scoring one goal we prepare to score the second,ie we do not bottle but play the Spurs way 3) We do not spend two weeks attempting to offload a player then ask him to rescue a game in particular when he has lost a season through injury 4) You have inherited an attacking team of note now attack Do not apologise and state that "everybody is working hard" release the players to play the game they have been specifically recruited to play
I was completely against his appointment. I desperately hoped/hope to be proved wrong. But, so far, it's not encouraging to say the least. Harry was no tactical genius. But, I can't work out what this guy is trying to do half the time. Which makes me wonder, does he really know himself? He seems to have plan A...and... er... that's it!
No way are we getting top 4 with this guy in charge. Having seen the Norwich game, I'm predicting 8th place, and that could be optimistic, because we could be talking calamity here.
Yes we are Tottenham but on a personal level I woke this morning and didn't head straight for my computer and Spurs as I normally do. I'm rapidly losing interest because I fear we will return to mid table mediocrity again and I could not take that. If that happens a pox on Levy.
typical thread that wums will thrive off...see above for proof..well done Pabird hope they help you have an insightful debate..your right we are Tottenham..not chelsea....we back AVB...so seems like you might have to get used to it....nit picking is pathetic..im very tolerant of my own fans but this is getting pathetic after 3 matches. p.s wums dont need to 'reply with post' with my comment..im not here for a debate with you.
F++++ the wums this is Spurs and for me it has been the Spurs since 1948 and believe me that attitude we took onto the field was anything but Spurs be that after 1/2/3 or 30 games ie. one up front against Norwich? take off an attacker when one up? If AVB is the man then he has to understand that "who dares wins"
One up front isn't an issue. Redknapp routinely started that way last season, especially when we were at our best, dominating sides and playing superb, attacking football. Two holding midfielders is the problem and it was the problem in the previous campaign, too.
fair enough...ill never doubt a spurs fans loyalty.....however i think patience is a must..and i respect that you have followed the team for over 50 years..not to be taken lightly...however you must be aware that we are im afraid to say,to want for a better word..in 'transition'......a word that makes us all sigh...head up sir...i do think we will do well
complaning after 3 games,ok it's not good but the league is not a sprint.we're in danger of being just like the mouser's,give it at least till Christmas then if it has'nt improved vent your frustrations,at the managment, not the team.
Our squad of players are an extremely talented bunch, even without Modric, Rafa and Ledley. With the additions we've brought in, we're still just as good if not better than the previous season, YET if a manager persists with negative tactics and selections/ formations, it doesn't matter if you have Messi in your team, he'll be just as much use as Heskey if we don't play the best way that suits us! The DM's at HOME in the past two games have been a disgraceful way to try and win games, I feel like we're the away side with this sort of formation. Sort it out AVB for f*ck sake.
I think we've tried that and it's part of the reason that we've conceded, TMT. Defensive substitutions have encouraged sides to attack us, which they have to do anyway because they're behind, so we end up under pressure.
Not sure about this. If we are going to be under the cosh anyway then we need the extra bodies. Trouble is, defensively, we are not playing well. Jake looks out of sorts and Tommy looked a bit off the pace (understandably). I would like like to know why Sandro always gets withdrawn - hopefully only a fitness issue, as he has the game to really hurry the opposition up, certainly more than Jake at the moment. Of course a better idea is to actually score a couple more, then the defensive side is a bit easier to do.
I'd go along with that completely. Spurs appear to be far more apt with 1 DM. I actually think the 4-3-3 AVB used at Chelsea would have been perfect for Spurs. Sandro in the middle with Dembele and Huddlestone either side of him. It would certainly be good enough at home to the likes of Norwich and WBA and then perhaps AVB could revert to 2 DM's when away to United for instance
Arsenal did pretty well against Liverpool yesterday, playing exactly the way that I think AVB wants to set us up. We can play superb attacking football with 4231 and Livermore and Sandro both in the side once we've got the hang of how the system works. We're a couple of points worse off compared to the same fixtures last year. We had a dire record against the top eight last year which I think will be improved by AVB and I expect us to be a few points better off than last season.
Surely it can't both be true that Defoe isn't worth his place in the team and that he should be left on with Ade when we are 1-0 up with a few minutes left. The subs on Saturday were all very sensible. If only THudd had thrown himself in front of the shot rather than into the later midfield tackle.
Parking the bus has never been a Spurs speciality. We have tried it, but usually forget to put the handbrake on!..
