Are you having a laugh? City could have been out of sight at half time. 3-1 was a fair reflection of the match. What I will admit is that in the final 15 mins I thought there was only going to be one team to score, us.

Could have been out of sight but weren't. Nobody gave us a hope, the bookies, the fans ( look at the prediction thread) so when the expected happens why the negativity. If we're going there expecting to win then presumably you see us as champions elect? Comparing expectation how much did that city squad cost! We ran them as well as could have been expected.

I'm not being negative, we need to go to the likes of City, United, Chelsea and so on, and give ourselves a chance of getting something from the game. Today I felt we didn't do that. I will never be satisfied with a defeat, no matter who we are playing.

That's the attitude.

I'm not happy losing and never am. However now we have I am able to sit back and objectively say it's not a game any neutral would put any money on us getting anything. If you had to put your family home on the result what would you have gone for? Now we have lost I look at it and can see a lot of positives. If we'd just been stuffed by Southampton it would be a very different attitude.

I have to agree with Ciarrai and Hoops on this one. The first third of the game was an embarrasment. What was Hughes pre match talk?

' Get out there don't look to get on the ball and don't try anything. If you do get the ball give it back to them and sit back and let them come on to us. '

If we have supposedly better players why employ the same tactics as last season away from home? Even The Saints went there and had a go two weeks ago. It's no wonder Hughes hasn't won away from home yet, the bloke doesn't know how to take the game to the opposition.

Having said that we looked a bit better in the last half hour. Granero looks class and SWP was our man of the match.

Id agree we were way off the pace to start. Unfortunately MH doesn't know how the oppo will set up pre match. He goes into it with a best estimate. You could argue the way we grew that he has seen them, adapted and pushed on. We were much stronger as the game went on.

Second half performance was much better, so why didn't we start like that? Once we conceded the damage was done. Anyway, we can't change anything now, so we'll just have to stuff Chelsea after the international break

Faurlin back
Granero looks awesome
Nelson - solid and commanding, shame he can't shoot!
Team grew into themselves as the match went on
On top against the champions for a large portion of second half
Mancini dropping deeper and slowing the game down to be sure of the win
Hit on the break for the 3rd, can't be helped
We still have Cesar, Diakite, Mbia to come in to the team / squad.

If for one think that was a top effort after a slow start. Things will get better, well done rr's!

I think you are trying hard to delude yourself ranger......man city are not at their best but sparky was clueless....

Thank you 74 and Brix, nothing to add. Future genuinely exciting, a couple of weeks until Chelsea at home. Our new boys will understand what is special about our club when they walk out on the pitch then.

This is such a good point. The first game when we see the 'new team' will be the most passionate of the season. Heroes are created in these games and villains. They really started to play for each other at the end. I wish we had injected a bit of pace on them in the last 10 mins. Chelsea at home...nice baptism, rite of passage experience for a new team to bond.

Jesus told Peter to walk on water and Peter said "but I'll drown", and Jesus said "ye of little faith".

Hughes' teams are notoriously slow starters. We must be patient. I believe around November we'll start to see a beautiful team doing us all proud.

We may have to play catch up for a bit and Anton may have to get his bra fixed but before Christmas comes around we'll all be singing like Canaries.

OOOPS, did I say Canaries?!! I meant song-birds!
