Blimey, all this transfer business and I'd totally forgotten we had a game coming up.

Without wishing to be disrespectful to Norwich I think they're there for the taking. I might be wrong and they do give us a good game but I just can't see that.

Thats pretty much my view, mainly because I don't rate hughton as a manager, if they had the same group of players and lambert as manager I wouldn't be so confident but I wonder if they are going to sit back and defend and if we can break them down.

First, thanks Boss! Excellent thread. Not as compendious and fact heavy as your sainted predecessor, but very interesting, and great to have the last game's lineup.

WY had my lineup, and much of my reasoning. If so, let's hope (if so) Dembele hits the ground running.

No third game of the season is ever must-win. But if we don't get one I wouldn't want to be AVB next week.

Just the way we like it <laugh>

Paul Jewell and the board can't spot a decent player, can't attract decent players and pay over the top for has-beens with a poor attitude (Bullard for example) <ok>

The fans on here are moaning most weeks about the way the club is run (with good reason I hasten to add), Jewell should be sacked is a frequent topic, Glegg (the owner) should resign etc.

It makes our defeats a little easier to accept when we think how them poor sods are suffering <laugh>

Also, Thai, thanks for the laugh. But it can't all be champagne and roses for you, surely.

redwhiteandermblue <ok>

It seems disruptive that one day until the window closes and with Norwich next up, we could lose several players and sign several players, we don't exactly prepare for things in a professional way! Anyhow, I be glad once this window is closed, excuses will end and avb will know his squad and if he can't get a performance out of the team against Norwich (no disrespect) then regardless of what anyone says he will already be under pressure.

I wonder if Dawson will now find his way back into the team? that be interesting to see how avb deals with that as I get the impression he is happy for him to be sold but as he is club captain and a fans favourite, he doesn't want to cause any upset.

Boss, when I posted that a draw or a defeat is unthinkable you posted that I have no faith in the manager already and now you say he'll be under pressure if he doesn't get a performance against Norwich. It seems we both think the same way. A 2-0 will get us off and running. iI hope we don't concede.

Well Thor am just going by the general view and you can sense already a large section of fans are already questioning avb so its not a good sign.

Back to business. What team are we expecting? Can Lloris and Dempsey play - some say 24 hours needed, but surely Carroll signed for West Ham after that? Anyone know for sure?

Probably best not to play them yet anyway until they have trained with us. So.....

Friedal

Walker
Dawson
Vertonghen
Benny

Sandro
Dembele

Lennon
Siggy
Bale

Ade

for me.

My mate, who went to the Wigan 9-1 when I chose not to reminded me that the samething might happen again today... now I can't look past 9-1 :D

I think I'll be the only Spurs fan annoyed if we do totally kill them today <laugh>

Not sure if correct but bbc site said they didn't sign in time and I think lloris is loved in Lyon and as part of the deal they wanted to let him come and say goodbye to everyone! emotional french!

Tottenham: Friedel, Walker, Gallas, Vertonghen, Assou-Ekotto, Livermore, Sandro, Lennon, Sigurdsson, Bale, Defoe. Subs: Cudicini, Huddlestone, Adebayor, Naughton, Dembele, Townsend, Caulker.

Norwich: Ruddy, Russell Martin, Bassong, Barnett, Garrido, Johnson, Howson, Snodgrass, Pilkington, Holt, Jackson. Subs: Rudd, Turner, Surman, Hoolahan, Morison, Tierney, Tettey.

Referee: Mark Halsey (Lancashire)

Ade and Dembele on the bench, a little surprised about that. Good to see Huddlestone make the bench though.

It would be nice to see those three get a chance, at some point during the second half.

I wonder how Friedel is feeling knowing this will be his last game as our Number 1 and and end to his run of games without injury.

Yeah but looking at the bench I'd be happy for any of them to get some game time today, as long as we win of course...

"while Steven Caulker is again given a chance to shine in midfield" - Expert reporting from the Beeb <doh>

Even SS are saying its a bit defensive for a home game...comes to something when even Jeff Stelling can see it! Hope I'm wrong but it could easily be a frustrating 1st half, an early goal will change everything though.

So again we start with two dm's, even at home agaisnt Norwich, still we should have enough to win but it does make me wonder if avb actually wants two dm's in the team long term.
