In case any doubt in anyone's mind, have a look at this. The fact that our goalie is mentioned in the same sentence as Cassilas is incredible enough but the lad has got some serious talent. Mouthwatering!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XlUv58DWLI
Hi Guys, used to post a lot on the old 606 site, gave up as i became utterly obsessed, was taking up too much time and not doing my blood pressure much good! Have been reading your posts with great interest on a regular basis, as usual hugely impressed with their quality and understanding (creep). Have now decided to come in from the cold Anyway, i have a question about Cesar. How much has his accident effected his abilities? I don't know how badly injured he was. But something must have happened over the last year or so for us to be able to get him on a free. My thoughts are that even if he's lost a bit he must still be one of the best keepers in the Prem. the confidence he should give to the back 4, if not the whole team plus the extras goals he should save compared to Paddy last year should make a huge difference.
ealing, big welcome back! Used to enjoy your intelligent and well thought out posts. It's a great time to be a QPR fan, eh? No idea re your question but natural talent does not fade with setbacks, just needs coaxing back.
Thanks Rangers . Quite unbelievable, i still can't get my head around it. have done almost no work over the last week. Newsnow and not 606 on constant refresh! I must admit to a pang of sadness though, especially for the guys who got us promoted, but heh that's football! pretty much everything that could be said has been said about the current situation by you guys already. I hope that Cesar sees this as a new challenge and a way to get back into the Brazilian national side. Put it this way, with our defense he'll be getting a of of work! Lots of opportunities to show off his talent! At least until they all get settled that is.
The car crash a couple of years back? It was very mild, facial bruising and a cut lip. He was at the training ground within 24 hours.
Thanks Imaz. I'd heard that he had been badly injured, obviously not. So, at 32 when goalkeepers are expected to be entering their best years we have picked up one of the best goalkeepers ever, on a free! Why?
Because he had dropped from 1st choice and Inter wanted him to take a pretty large wage cut. He refused so they cut their losses with a free transfer and a golden handshake.
Does this mean we are paying him the same as he was on at inter surely a player of his class must of been on pretty close to 100k. i know joey is gone and that frees up some money but i presume we are paying some of joeys wage still.. Cant see why he would refuse to lower his wages at inter but join us on less.. unless the golden handshake was sizeable, which i would doubt as they could of using it to keep him on the wage is was getting... hope this makes sense
Not a clue as to what he was on or what sort of percentage they wanted to drop it by. In fact no idea of any of the amounts involved. Only know that this is what happened. His Mrs (FIT!) confirmed most of it on Twitter too.
If you watch Casillas in that video, the best thing about him is how relaxed his body is when he makes each save. The sign of a goal keeper with low confidence is tensing up too much, which Rob Green can only do at the moment.
