As just a simple fan maybe I dont understand it, but can somebody please explain why we have only 2 senior strikers on the books now and why Harry Kane was loaned out, if Ade gets injured what are we supposed to do as obviously AVB does not fancy Defoe as a lone striker ,I am happy with the signings made but 2 forwards ?
 
Dempsey could be a forward, potentially. I don't necessarily see it myself but it's only 3 months till the transfer window opens again, hopefully Ade can stay fit till then.
 
I think we'll pick up a free agent. There are plenty around and we'd basically be getting a third choice.
A bit of a Saha/Nelsen signing.

do you know of a list that's available online anywhere?
 
i wouldn't say no to Drenthe. I think with the right coach, he could be useful. he's a lively little player. could be good cover for us. and only 25!
 
Dempsey played further forward for Fulham last season, I think sometimes as a striker if not 'off' one, hence his goal tally, so we do have 3 imo, but I think its fair to say we won't see 2 strikers starting too many games, 442 and 4411 look dead to me now.
 

Personally, I wouldn't say no to Owen on ability. The guy still has goals in him. However, it would have to be on a pay-as-you-play basis because of his appalling injury record.

No. Anyone with space in their 25 man squad can still add players that are out of contract.
The 25 doesn't even have to be registered just yet and you can sign people after that, if you've still got places available.
 
I'm out of my depth on this site,PNP I knew nothing of that. But I also found it odd that Kane would go out on loan. Surely AVB has something up his sleeve.
 
To be fair, Kane's no better suited than Dempsey to playing as a lone striker.

Given that Dempsey will surely also be seen as an option on the wing and behind the striker it does still seem strange to me. If Kane gets regular football and has a great season, coming back to us like Walker and Caulker then it'll all be worth it.
 
Dempsey is the other striker, a far better option than Kane.

I would have preferred it had we got in someone like Carroll as I was saying for weeks/months. But at least we got Dempsey in to to fill out our options.

I think how AVB handles playing Defoe is going to be key to our season. Still as others are saying, maybe we'll pick up a freebie.

I Just hope Ade is fit and on form today.
