The transfer window is now closed and it's time for us supporters to show our thanks to our investers and turn up in mass on Sunday. Cheers Tan Sri Vincent Tan & Dato Chan Tien Ghee.
As I posted a few days ago - we haven't got rid of Sam the Scam, but any fan who can complain after the signings that we have made in the last two months is even more of a miserable sod than I am.
is that right... Maynard is retiring next week? Every target landed bar 1.... cant complain about that. VT/TG have backed their word with action now its up to us to do our bit. This is true but I cant believe VT/TG aren't all over this one. I think its just a matter of time.
As you say H, they have delivered exactly as they said they would. The signings have exceeded all expectations IMO. Whether mm gets us to the autos or not is a different matter, but at board level they deserve 100% backing and support because they literally could not have done anymore. Pressure is right on from the start though, Blackpool look very strong, Bolton have retained and added, Brighton signed 4 players yesterday, leicester look a lot more settled. You can add about 8 more sides that are all looking upwards not down!
That's the bit that is still unknown Clingo. I understand most of it, but fitting the strikers into this is key. I can see how MM, like a lot of managers, wants two players for every position with a couple spare. whitts, mcphail, gunnar, kiss, mutch, ralls fighting for 3 berths (assuming 451). Noone and bellars on the left, smith and KimBo on the right. I'll put Mason in the floating pot and conway, Harris and cowie as cover. That leaves HH, Maynard, Eti, Earnie and Rudy to fight it out. Not sure the balance is right there. It all comes down to MMs prefered style of play and can he get the resources at his disposal playing to that style. For me, the striking options are betwixt and between. Neither an out and out lone striker nor an obvious 2 man partnership. On paper it looks a good squad if a little light at the back. However as is often quoted, this game is played on grass not paper. I'm probably more nervous about the team than when we had a small squad. Just hope we don't do a Leicester.
Will be difficult to find the best blend but when injuries and suspensions arrive we will not be weakened by the choice of replacements. I still think we need one or two full backs on loan. We need to let a couple out on loan now especially Earnie who wont get any game time now.
Don't disagree Stevo. Looking at the money they spent though, you'd have expected better from them. It does look promising.
